The dev team was working on Diablo 3, and it was deemed unsatisfactory, so it was canned. This is public information.

@BludshedX It's funny you asked that question. I've been playing Blizzard's games for over 23 years, since long before they were even called Blizzard. Over the last 12 years I've been operating Australian & Global eSports Web sites & events in affiliation, and on behalf of Blizzard Entertainment. In 2 months, I'll be hosting the Blizzard World Championship Series (SC2) for the Oceanic region. This will be the ~4th event I've hosted on behalf of Blizzard since 2004.

@BludshedX Who said anything about Blizzard North? They were separate studio (Condor) who were absorbed by Blizzard when they needed a publisher. They departed the company 3 years later - long before Activision was ever on the scene.

@Max_160 This never happened, you're making things up. Blizzard remains an independent studio as far as development is concerned. Seriously. Go to Blizzcon. You'll meet the same people who were there since way back when.
