The fact is that Blizzard is making a new MMO, starting developement around now or in the near future.
MMOs take a long time to create! They don't just take one year, unless they are of culturly retarded asain form.

Diablo 3 seems to me that it is already in developement with its own little team just like starcraft 2 however perhaps not quite at the alpha stage.
It is pretty logical that Diablo 3 would be in production to most Blizzard gamers, and more so to Diablo gamers. The franchise is just asking to get milked for cash.

The fact that Blizzard have barely a budget means that they can develope more quality games at one time.
To think that this next project MUST be Diablo 3 is a bit stupid. Lets say that it isn't Diablo 3, and Diablo 3 is being developed seperately in secret.

This new MMO, IF it makes the cut, will be released within 4 years. Probably in 2 to 3. It really depends where they are at in development and how large and efficient the team is.

Blizzard has commented that they want to get back to Starcraft: Ghost and it seems like a pretty solid idea imo. A Starcraft Ghost MMOG. Perhaps FPS.
The hardware and the global infrastructure for the internet is getting better with time, and perhaps when this new MMO is out it will be able to utilize the power of high speed internet (especially for First person shooter gaming) and faster CPUs and GPUs.

The PC is getting more popular as time goes by. I don't think that Starcraft: Ghost could go back to console... It seems like a bit of a open pit, with most of the Starcraft fans PC users.

So my vote does go to Starcraft as the new MMO. Then my second vote goes to something new...
I think that Diablo 3 will be another Hack n' Slash as it is already guaranteed to win the way it is as Diablo 2 is like Starcraft 1998. Diablo 2 needs a "sequal" :D.

For the people who dislike cute happy rpgs, then like me you should be waiting for...

Assassins Creed, The Witcher, Spore, Crysis and Empire Earth 3.

These few games look to be the 'decent' releases of 2007 and early 2008. So if your looking for something with BOTH good graphics and great gameplay these are some of the most likely candidates for now :p.

Then there are MMOGs, which is another genre altogether.

Go download snes roms for sword of mana or something if you want cute and fantasy! I did, about 6 years ago...

Don't waist your time with free mmos, ESPECIALY asian mmos.

Hellgate: London will be free to play, i believe (Without perchase, Im not sure... Probably with perchase - like guild wars) with optional subscription.

But no you won't find anything decent free. Theres Archlord, etc. Pretty crappy. just goto onrpg.com or something.
