How are the senators so blind to the fact that Sandy Hook could only take place because the kid had assault weapons readily available in his house?
This isn't a video game issue, this is a gun issue. By focusing the spotlight on video games, these senators are basically giving the weapon industry a free pass.
I disagree. Just because the game has server issues should not account for a low score. If this were the case, Diablo 3 should be scored lower as well.
I don't think violent media beget violence. Look at the people who commit such gun related crimes. These are students who are facing problems which they have no solution to. They do not have access to tools and resources to help them with their problems. Gaming media have become so widespread that is is near impossible to find a 20year old who have never touched Call of Duty given that Activision have been pumping one out every year since 2003.
It is not violence. It is that these teenagers feel desperate enough to do something that drastic. Politicians should be looking at solving that rather than constantly pointing fingers.
And how do we know Adam Lanza did really spend 'hours' on Call of Duty? Are the people who claim that credible witnesses? And are these 'hours' spent relative in a week or a day? As long as a connection to gaming is made, politicians will jump on it like white on rice.
While the games that THQ developed are sound, I think that one of the reason they are in this hole that they find themselves in is due to no small part of the development of the uDraw.
I mean seriously, did they expect it to be a commercial hit? Console supports has almost never done well.
I think it is just the media crucifying the gaming industry. They are bored and the effects of gaming are still generally an unknown. There is no evidence to show that people who play games are prone to violence.
There is always something which the media is trying to crucify and viewers should always take it with a pinch of salt.
