You know, as far as I can see, you all got what you deserved if you hated DA2 and then bought ME3 anyway. In a market system, if you don't like a company or the products they produce, you have the freedom to stop buying them and go spend your money on something else. When you bought ME3, you were asking Bioware to tell you a story. If you didn't like the story they told, get over it and don't buy any more Bioware games. If you read a book and you think it's garbage, you don't write a letter to the author demanding that they fix it to your liking. You conclude that they're a poor writer and you don't read any more of their books.
That this happened is disgusting, but I don't think "gamer entitlement" is responsible. You'll find thoughtless scumbags all over the internet, discussing all manner of topics they know very little about. Religion and politics both see more vitriolic language than gaming. Some people just believe that anonymity gives them an excuse to treat people poorly, and they'll carry that fallacy with them into any subject. I think gamers have a right to have high expectations from game developers and publishers, and criticize them when they fail to live up to those expectations. But what happened in this case was not high expectations or criticism, it was abuse.
I'm fairly certain that between the two of them, Portal 2 and Skyrim represent everything that is good about video games. I can see why Skyrim got GOTY. I think Portal 2 is closer to perfection, but for all its rough edges Skyrim is just so BIG in every sense of the word.
It sounds like they made all of the right design choices. Taking cover is instinctive now for most shooter fans, but regenerating health would have ruined Max Payne's pacing.
Developers should spend as much time as they need to refining a game, not rush it out to production. I would much rather play a great game that's been delayed 5 times than a mediocre one that came out right on schedule. Look at Valve. They're infamous for taking a long time to turn out a game. But they're also one of the most successful and beloved developers in the industry.
@dendrosteve That's what GS used to do, all of the early-2000s video reviews show subscores. Not quite sure why they eliminated that, because I agree that subscores are helpful.
Battlefield 3: - Best graphics in the industry - Most fully-featured and realistic physics simulation in the industry - Gigantic maps - 64 player online matches - A full complement of military vehicles Modern Warfare 3: - Accessibility ^^ Saying Modern Warfare is any competition for BF3 is like saying social gaming on Facebook is going to dethrone first person shooters.
