The first part of the story seems to take place after Peace Walker, probably no more than 4 years later. It will probably start with Big Boss going to rescue Paz and failing to do so, as in the first trailer the scarred face man suggests she didn't suffer. There is no real indication what happened to the boy, presumably Chico, but he was either taken away by XOF or also killed, I assume taken. Big Boss realizing his mission is a failure gets a distress call from Mother Base and returns to save Miller. Miller asks Big Boss what happened, where Paz is and BB informs him that she is dead and Miller punches the hull of the helicopter. Their helicopter gets shot down during their escape and they crash resulting in BB' coma, Miller's injuries and whoever the third person is. This third person is probably the one that stays with BB during his 9 year coma. The fact his face is covered in bandages it could be Gray Fox, who got his ears and nose cut off in Mozambique and was rescued by BB. Perhaps they all escaped Mother Base together. Considering their history Gray Fox owing his life to BB a few times, remains there during those 9 years to repay the debt. After those 9 years the awakening of BB makes him a threat once again and XOF is sent in again to finish the job. Big Boss escapes with help from a few friends. Gets injured during the escape again, but lives and escapes. Gets back in shape, artificial hand installed, similar to the one seen at the beginning of Peace Walker and starts his plans to rebuild and get payback. Presumably upon his coming to FOXHOUND, a cloned arm is offered to replace the artificial arm, keeping the original storyline intact.

Personally the K/D ratio is just about the only thing I look at. To me it's like this, what's the point of getting 20 kills in a round, if you die 30-40 times trying to get those kills. The only thing that shows, is how much you suck at playing the game. Keeping my K/D ratio above 1 and not resorting to the easiest way to get a kill to keep it that way is how I play.

The survivor horror style of the first 3 Resident Evil games are not very appealing in today's market as they are too slow paced and fixed camera angles will frustrate gamers, who are now used to signifigantly more freedom in games. Years ago I read in a interview that the fixed camera angle was more out of necessity than actually planned, the consoles of the time simply didnt allow full scene rendering. Also the term survivor horror would apply only to the situation in which the characters find themselves in the game.

Resident Evil 4 saw you take matters into your own hand, no longer being a survivor trying to escape a nightmare, but as an agent trying to uncover the truth, save the girl and prevent disaster, that itself is a big change from the original formula, but a necessary one, because how many games can you make with the exact same concept? Capcom made the right choice by taking this new approach. Take a look at the Silent Hill series, those games stuck to the same concept and went from the praise the original got, to the abysmal reviews the later ones received. I won't say survivor horror is dead, but the series is evolving naturally, with previous survivors taking the role of protectors. The storyline is wearing a little thin though, but there's enough there to make something out of it if you try hard enough.

Capcom's choice to make this game and go for a broader audience, while at the same time trying to please fans of the series, will naturally lead to some uneasiness. This game is costing them millions to make and they expect to make that back, preferably make a rather large profit. Why complain? They are a for-promit company, not a non-profit. The Resident Evil franchise is immensely popular, although decreasing, because games like Assassin's Creed are giving them a run for their money, with better stories, interesting, complicated worlds and a different way of going about things. Bringing back zombies is one thing they're using to appeal to gamers, personally I've always hated those Plaga things and i'm well aware I'm not alone in that. They seem to be genuinely trying to make a better game than RE5 was, learning from mistakes. It also seems to bring back some nostalgic feelings by once again infecting entire cities with a virus, like the original Raccoon City outbreak. This creates tremendous opportunities to do things they've never been able to do before as the hardware these days is more than capable of doing what it couldn't back in 1998. The appearance of classic RE characters, Chris, Leon, Ada, Sherry, in this game will appeal to fans of the series to find out what's going on exactly and the trailers so far have made very good use of that. At the same time Capcom is trying to make it so that even non Resident Evil fans can play the game without knowing every little detail of the past games. If done right, this game could be a big hit.

There's a lot more to the story obviously, if you've played the previous games you should know that. The trailer gives you an idea of what's going on, but tells you nothing of how it came to be and where it eventually leads. It tells you Leon, Chris and Wesker Jr. play a big part in the game, Sherry Birkin makes has a small role (never thought I'd see her again in a RE game), that woman with a striking resemblance to Ada Wong (probably is Ada Wong, judging from how she talks in the trailer). Leon seems vengeful, Chris is clearly on a warpath to a selfdestructive degree and Wesker Jr acts all cool but is very much aware of his situation, although ignorant of his past.

Doubtful, there's very little reason to do that in this game as you get to play as Leon, Chris and Wesker Jr. Playing as their sidekicks makes little to no sense as those 3 characters are already very different and have their own skillset. At best you can expect short intervals of switching to playing as the sidekick for the hard to reach places or when you get seperated.
