If Donald Trump was reviewing this game it would be "a total disaster ... sad".

This game is the most over hyped, under delivered game I've seen for a long time. Its got a 6 on IGN and being totally hammered on Steam. It literally gets boring after the 2nd planet you visit and there is no element of the game which is actually fun unless you enjoy walking around for hours at a time just to mine the next rock or flower.

There is no life on these planets, just a bunch of random animals which have no AI. Space is equally boring except for avoiding debris and docking on space stations to speak with NPC's who also have no AI. Shooting at sentinels and space pirates is underwhelming and lacks any skill.

No Man's Sky is a tech demo. Its impressive to see a universe on this scale and its probably the best example of a procedural generated game I've seen but there is nothing to do here and what there is gets boring after a couple of hours.

I think the main lesson to be learned here is not only to release an unfinished game but not to hype an unfinished game.

"Your Universe Awaits" ... it will be waiting a lot longer after your copyright infringement. Shameful

WOW so much for Sean Murray being a genius. I am seeing Hello Games in a totally different light now. Its shameful they didn't get consent, officially recognize this significant contribution or ensure the original author was appropriately consulted and compensated. This game was always a 50/50 for me and now I definitely won't be helping to line the pockets of a company who think this is acceptable. Well done to this guy for calling them out and I hope he gets a huge settlement out of it.

I quite like this style of review. It reminds me of the composer John Cage's famous piece 4'33" which consists of no musical notes and invites the audience to observe 4 and a half minutes of silence.

Peter Brown is advocating a new style of review where the community visits the page but without any words. Well either that or he was actually fired for playing Doom for 20 hours and not turning up for work.

I'll fill in the rather large blank here folks, this game is a solid 8.5 out of 10.

@gord0nd: They definitely planning to expand and support snapmap which is good. I'm sure they will add more stuff and expand it further and they are not doing this with DLC like most people

@ALLIAMOS: For me this is a 9/10 and only because the multiplayer is average. However when people complain about this I don't think they are taking into account the multiplayer / co-op possibilities with snapmap which hasn't even got going properly yet.

I think the reviewers absence here says it all, he is far too busy enjoying the game to write up the review!

The review is pretty redundant now as most people have already purchased and its clear from the majority of comments this is an 8/10 (or above) and a recommended purchase. This is the most enjoyable FPS I've played in a few years now and I think this element has been lost on shooters recently .. FUN.

Brilliant game and hope ID and Bethesda do some great numbers here if only so we see future support for snapmap. Forget the gripes about multiplayer, yes its the weakest component but the campaign is so good and snapmap is going to keep the game alive for a long long time. This is easily the best release so far in 2016.

I think 7.1 was a disgusting score from IGN. Doom is a fantastic game and a real breath of fresh air from COD and Battlefield. As an overall package its simply amazing when you combine the excellent campaign, a robust mutliplayer and the almost infinite gameplay snapmap provides. I think its very unfair to mark the game down so much just because the multiplayer component is average and this doesn't take into account the co-op possibilities with snapmap.

ID and Bethesda have delivered exactly what the community wanted from a modern Doom and it should be scored on this basis and not because the multiplayer doesn't compete with other products which have a completely different set of priorities. Trust me, this game is a solid 8.5 out of 10 and I hope Gamespot do the right thing and score it fairly. You will not regret buying this.
