It's not.

How do you drive a car?

Their is only 1 way to do it.

How do you control a FPS?

Their are more than 3 ways to do it.

We're not only comparing which is technically superior but method is the best way to play an FPS.

Ninja-Vox

You want an extra shovel for that hole you're a'diggin?

You have a race; which tool for the job do you pick? The porsche is better at everything on paper, but you choose the mini because you're more accustomed to it. You prefer it. You win. Nice.

You have a deathmatch; do you use the mouse, which on paper is technically superior and therefore the obvious choice for being the best tool for the job. But you use the controller instead; you're more accustomed to it. You might win, you might lose. You will not automatically lose because you didn't choose the mouse.

It is all down to your personal experience and preference.

COMPLETELY RELEVANT. "I say pcs are better" - "i say consoles are better" - "i say neither are better; it's down to your own preference and experience."

COMPLETELY RELEVANT.

I don't think that you are making a good analogy here. Let's say Joe is more accustomed to driving a Ford Focus. Michael Shoemaker is more accustomed to driving a Forumla 1. They both race against each other, and it does not take a mentally retarded idiot to figure out which one will win (unless you are one).

Let's make a different analogy. Say this regular Joe is having a real life death match against a highly trained super soldier. Joe is more accustomed to a butter knife than a fully armed assualt rifle. On the other hand, this soldier had years of training with an assault rifle. You are telling this guy to pick the butter knife over the assualt rifle because he is more experienced with it?

Your options are so limited since it's going to increase/decrease. How about staying about the same? There may be ~100 people buying console version, but that doesn't change the fanbase that much. Remeber the Starcraft N64? I don't remember that doing so well.

[QUOTE="DaysAirlines"]It can't be achieved on the 360 because it is American. Only Japanese developers know creativity, all the 360 knows is shooters.DaysAirlines

QFT

There has never been a creative American game ever in the history of the world.

Except for the fact that first video game ever created was created by an American developer.

Many Japanese developers rehash uninspiring JRPG with same game machanics borrowed from other developers over and over.

All you guys say that because shooters tend to be more popular in the Western front, but you guys completely overlook other genre.

[QUOTE="hi381"]search Crysis on ign and it shows Crytek project for ps3 and ign is saying it may be crysisSambaLele

interesting.

i heard they are hiring ppl with cross-platform and port development skills, which are used to PS3's hardware.

People always get the wrong idea and jump into the conclusion that it's being developed for PS3 because they see PS3 job section. When Cevet Yerli, the president of Crytek, and a number of spokespersons directly confirmed that there won't be a port of Crysis in several interviews (look it up, it's found in GS and GT), it will not come to PS3. They are just hiring them for porting the game engine only.

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="Pro_wrestler"]What about it was 'dumbed down?' Graphics? Last time I checked there was a point in time where 360 was more powerful than any PC on the market, I fail to see how PCs are doing anything far beyond a console reach graphically, even with in light of Crysis. Controls? I don't see where the 'dumbed down'-ness comes into play as that is a personal preference. If KB/M is so much more "l33t" then you should have no problem busting console gamers heads with it when Shadowrun comes out, so it being 'dumbed down' is irrelevant to your superiority claims:PPro_wrestler

I believe the PC version for multiplayer between 360 and Windows is given a "shot randomization" to lower accuracy to make the competition "more fair."

ROFL! That sounds far feteched if true, it really does.

It's extremely hard to use any of the weapons in RO....though it takes only 3 bullets or less to kill someone...typically 1 with a high-caliber round such as a bolt-action rifle or scoped rifle (but you have to hit them in the chest, gut, or head). All the guns have massive recoil, and there are no crosshairs. Again, you have to lead and compensate for bullet drop. Even sniping is extremely hard. But cover is your friend. There are no "Halo" moments.Redfingers

I agree that the aiming in Halo is handicaped! In Gears of War everything about the firefights lies within skill especially when you dominate someone glitching!

Crysis destroys anything on the console market with 0 doubt. Take off your Fanboy glasses. Additionally, 360 was never more powerful than PCs. Never. Literally, the day it came out, it was stomped.Redfingers

"Fanboy glasses" Says the guy with clear dismay for 360 given his user icon:). When 360 launched it was the only GPU with 48 shader pipelines let alone Unifed Shaders, so argueable, it was more powerful when it launched GPU wise:P! Undoubtedly Crysis does look the best, however a single aspect of Crysis can be compared to things of other games, warter for instance or Animation & Character models. It is'nt like Crysis is so far beyond what console can do, IMO console are besting it in some aspects:) As far technically, Crysis is the total package!

It's called SLI. Putting two 7800 gtx together was possible long before 360 was launched.

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="Metroid_Time"]LOL steam alone probably has more users than Xbox Live.jechtshot78

There is now 190,544 players on Steam. Link

300,000 unigue Halo 3 players in the last 24 hours, Linky: http://www.bungie.net/

(Btw, I am not trying to argue, just throwing that out there for comaprison)

You can't compare those two numbers because one counts the number of players in the last 24 hours (Halo) and one counts the number of players at that instant (steam). Also, for games like counter strike, the peak number of players is not a good indication of the acctual number of players since it is played all around the world, whereas most of Halo 3 players come from NA. My point is that those numbers are not good comparison. However, just to give you an idea, at its peak, Counter Strike 1.6 generate more server activity than the nation of Italy according to wikipedia.

[QUOTE="Caramel_Fantasy"]:? Oh wow, I never heard of the game until now. But I assumed it was a Sci-fi FPS or something. That looks pretty boring and geeky. :|Caramel_Fantasy

My thoughs exactly. Im not trying to bash it or anything...I just wow thought it was based on something epic when Hermits began saying we won this gen.

It's something that console only gamers never understand. Starcraft is being religiously played for almost a decade because of its immersive gameplay. Since console gamers go for the best new shiny things, so it's all about sequel after another. You guys tend to throw a game away if there is a new shiny thing on the market, so the games cannot possibly be as immersive as PC franchises. Can you name me a console game that has as large community and longevity as Counter Strike or Starcraft? It's also ironic that PC is the only platform that pushes the technology every year, and that all the demanding games such as Crysis is being developed for PC at the same time.

It's nothing geeky since the video you've watched was a match between two professional gamers in Korea. Their job is to play the game competitively just like any other athletes.

Gaming is a hobby. Taking it that serious is pretty geeky. Professional gamers ? What makes them any different from a skilled gamer who plays games as a hobby. What has this world come to.

There used to be times when sports were just sports. Now they take it seriously.

These pro gamers get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. That's still a good start.

Is PC still in HD?
