@Tsiawddood You are correct, but with the PS3 and Xbox 360 you don't have to be connected to play the single player games. With the XboxOne you have to have a connection just to install the game and you have to connect once every 24hrs to keep playing even the single player game. While not truly always on if you don't connect you will be barred from playing even the single player mode. There are people in the US that still don't have access to high speed internet. Also the Xbox360 was a prize choice of the US Armed Forces when deployed overseas where access to the internet is restricted.
First off how can the VP say there is no legal restriction on taxing violent media when time and time again the Supreme Court has ruled that it is protected speech. I mean are they going to tax every single thing that has violence. So the evening news is going to be taxed? How about a play of Macbeth or Romeo and Juliet? Taxing violent media is not going solve the problem nor is tighter gun control. So stop wasting time effort and TAX PAYER MONEY on something that will not help.
I agree that their needs to be a fix but not by the industry. The survey was 58% of parents believed violent games lead to violent tendacies in teens. The real problem is a parent just goes and buys a game for little Johnny not paying attention to the fact that it contains violence unsuitable for the child's age. The playstation and the xbox have become the baby sitter.
Policymaker says it is "unrealistic" that parents can prevent children from viewing inappropriate content in media-soaked culture. So in that case lets pass a law that allows parents to lock their children away in a dark room till their 18th birthday and turn them loose on society. Video games are not the sole source of violence. How about we ban the evening news, or how about we ban literary works like Romeo and Juliet or MacBeth. I hope the people of WV vote this idiot out of office when it is time.
So 58% of parents believe games contribute to violence. So these must be the same parents that ignore the rating listed on the box and let the xbox or playstation be the baby sitter. Stop blaming video games for piss poor parenting.
