As a person who have experienced gaming addiction before, I completely agree with this article. Gaming addiction is a problem that shouldn't be ignored, and as time goes by, it will only get bigger. Of course, I'm over that now, but there were times when all-nighters were a normal thing, and I didn't do almost anything with my life, except eating, sleeping, and playing games. I'm not blaming games for that, I can only blame myself. But we should all think about our habits, and how much time we actually spend playing games. And, of course, when do we actually cross the line between playing games for fun, and actually enjoying it, and playing them because we can't stop thinking about it. When games turn into obsession. When we became frustrated because we can't beat a certain level, or our health starts to deteriorate because of regular all-nighters and lack of exercize. Not to mention loss of people's skills, depression, etc. Video game addiction is more often than not triggered by certain problems in one's personal life, but that's all the more reason why we should prevent this kind of addiction. Because running away into some "perfect" virtual world won't help us - it will only make things worse. It's like running away and locking yourself into a chrystal ball. But guess what, chrystal balls are easy to break. All it takes is a little push... I don't even know how I managed to escape that magic circle of addiction, but believe me when I say that was the worst time of my life. Hey, I still like computer games, and enjoy them from time to time. Heck, I even write reviews on GameSpot. But I do it AFTER I return home from work, have a lunch, go out with some friends, work out in a gym for an hour or two, maybe throw in a game of airsoft at weekends... I keep my life under control, finally. And I always manage to find some time to enjoy my favorite computer game.
