uh an imported ps3 from USA wouldnt play euro movies, or vise versa so ur scenario fails. and yes blu-ray is a major factor in ps3 its what is driving up blu-ray salesshouldn't ps3 sales have spiked since the one sony rep offer to buy ps3s back for twice retail? or did he tell another sony lie?
and with the ps3 being even more expensive , the removal of bc, etc europe isn't going to save the ps3. anyone who really wanted a ps3 didn't wait, they imported one of the over supplied us models at a cheaper price and with bc.
