Now, I know that this is against the rules, but I feel like I need to explain. Sorry :(
Sony not only put major development into it, but actually sold TVs for a loss trying to simulate media sales. They do this with most of their hardware. But with most it actually ends up working out to at least not have them lose much and eventually give them a base to grow. It worked OK when they did to push blu-ray, but even then it never really got them major profit. They tried more recently to do it to stimulate their digital markets, but that hasn't worked at all. Their other divisions such as their mobiles also suffer from this.
Honestly their cameras and PS is the only thing they're actually doing right at this point, and PS only because the base remains and doesn't change every other year like most other technology.

They sell them at a loss becuse they have to buy other manufactures pannels as they have not tech of thier own. Untill they start produceing thier own display tech they will keep losing money in this sector.
The community is overly defensive, talk about hardcore fanboys, got my ass ripped apart for asking if there was a dual spec, seeing how I have a dps/healer, and at level 18 I need points in lighting for leveling and what ever, but I dont have enough points in healing to be a decent healer, so atm its seems to be one or the other, MY GOD I NEED TO GO BACK TO WOW, HOW DARE I ASK THAT QUESTION. I love mmos but have always hated the general population, takes me a while to find a good guild void of ****

The most vocal elitists are usually the ones who can't play for ****. They just regurgitate stuff they saw on "how to play" sites and think they are pro for it.
...your using that joke like your the first person to ever use it.... heck, I heard that joke being used in 2006. Sony didn't come up with that marketing line until 2009.
