As some of you know, I work in the music industry so I take a lot of what goes on in the industry seriously (sometimes too seriously :P )

However finally the music industry or shal I say, a "role model" for the industry, is taking action to promote record sales, and actually get people buying cds instead of pirating or buying singles from digital stores.

Universal records (huge record company) wants to revive the psychical formate by decreasing the cost's of albums. The average cd now ranges from 12-15 dollars with the big releases from mainstream artists range from 15-20$. Now they plan to lower the price's by a huge amount with the average being 10. Records have not been that cheap since the early/ mid 90s when the record industry was blooming with sales, now with the digital market thriving, and people pirating, the appreciating of an album has decreases and unfortunately modern times has become a "singles race."

Although Im not crazy over Universal (because they have done very shady work in the past, not as bad as sony or virgin however) I am really glad that someone has finally taken initiative to do something. Record sales are a very big aspect to artists not just with money but value and appreciation and restrictions. I am so thrilled about this news because this seems to be a right step in re-working the current music industry system which as of right now, is dieing horrible in its own greed. Whats your thoughts?

This going to be a huge flop. First off, this move is nearly a decade too late, second, the sound quality I can get from downloads at Amazon is just fine. This is really much ado about nothing.

You mean like having a plot that surpasses the depth of a coloring book? Like having good writing?

MrEnvelope

Yea pretty much. They have the technology already created for the movie now so there really is no excuse for not having a better story/character development.

Oh god I really hated how badly developed the characters. Specially that bad guy, he kept speaking cheesiness and he had no depth whatsoever.

It was just an embarrassing parade of cliches. I counted about 10 of them in the first 10 minutes. This, from the guy who did Aliens and Terminator, oh Mr.Cameron, how the mighty have fallen. I'm glad Avatar was snubbed at the Oscars.

Depends if whether or not the sequel will improve upon the areas Avatar failed at.

Avatar is already being forgotten, as any terrible movie should be.

I think the entire threads filled with people saying things similar to "I don't care what happens to them. It's my money! MINE!" killed any faith I have in human kindness.

Pixel-Pirate

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness doesn't mean getting it at your neighbor's expense. Being forced to give my neighbor a portion of what I earn isn't human kindness. Its the government putting a gun to my head.

When people demand a share of the fruits of my labor based on their need, that is just plain wrong.

The proposed individual health insurance mandate is an unprecedented leap of governmental power that has never before in the history of our republic been tried before. Never has the government ordered American citizens to purchase a product or service from a private, for-profit, corporation as a condition of life.

I stopped reading here. Apparently you aren't aware of the fact that all drivers are mandated to have liability insurance for their cars.

This has gone over a thousand times. It isn't the same. You do not have to drive, it is a privlidge you earn and can use. You are never forced to have car insurance if you don't drive. You can't just "stop living" like you can stop driving. Unless you commit suicide.

It's funny how people conveniently ignore the fact that no one in America goes without healthcare, not even illegal immigrants. That auto insurance analogy is a joke. People who use that think that they win the argument on that alone. The problem with the auto insurance example is that when I get into a car accident, a mechanic isn't mandated by Federal law to fix my vehicle. No hospital can deny care.

It's absolutely unconstitutional. I hope this is litigated for at least the next decade. Being forced to purchase an overpriced, mediocre health insurance package that I get no say in or I get fined? Easily a violation of the Fourth Amendment.

Oh, and that part about America picking up the tab for the state of Nebraska? Good luck getting that one to stick.

Already, 37 states are planning to sue. Now that's bipartisanship.;) Seriously, this bill is a joke. Even if by some miracle it actually became law, this thing is getting repealed when the new Congress votes next year.

no son, because there's this thing called a "veto"...

The gamers are the general public.:?

I hear you Fathoms, sometimes I feel left out because I can't discuss stuff like how "Valve is a worthless developer that hasn't innovated in a decade"with average, everyday people.

fathoms_basic

Still haven't lost any of the ego, have you?

Perhaps you're part of the problem we've been dealing with for three decades.

The premises you're bringing up are fundamentally flawed and have been that way for at least the past five years.
