Bashing Vista is so trendy.

I am currently using XP on my computer and do not plan to upgrade because simply put, why would I?

If you have a new computer though, I would suggest getting Windows Vista. The game performance loss is a thing of the past and was mostly due to bad drivers because developpers weren't used to the new driver model in Vista. So was the cause of the vast majority of the crashes. All in all, Vista is a pretty solid OS with better multitasking capabilities then XP and a handfull of new features.

Oh and regarding that GTX260 vs HD4870, The HD4870 is better then the GTX260 in many games while costing less and the physiX thingy not only isn't enabled yet, but the same thing can be and will be done with ATi cards because it's just a matter of architecture.

BTW, 2 HD4870 is less expensive then a single GTX280 which is the best single card solution (Well the 9800 GX2 is a single card solution but still)

Well ingame flickering IS Artifacts, in windows i know it's not, what ever he will do what he wants, i still hold my opinion on that fact it won't break the screen to boost it to 75Hz, i do it on my other screen that is a old ViewSonic LCD, like the first ones and i never had any problems. When i think about it you dont even need reforce to do it, you just go in your sreen's options that you can access by the desktop and uncheck the thing that says: "Hide none supported frequencies..." or something like that.s00kah

Well he clearly did not meant in game flickering, but flickering in general which happen if your refresh rate is too low on a CRT display but not on an LCD as the crystal don't turn black between each refresh.

Most of the time though. if you put an unsupported frequencies on an LCD, chances are it will do nothing and set it to it's native refresh rate.

At the end of the day it's your choice but I'm telling you that this is pointless as it might damage your screen while not giving you any noticable gain.

If you were on a CRT display I would have encouraged you but since you use an LCD, I'm warning you, do not change the refresh rate of your screen (well you could in theory change it to 59 hz but that would be pointless...)

Do NOT change the refresh rate of your LCD since it will cause premature aging and might cause hardware failure.

60hz is not only good enough, it's great. You rarely see an LCD with a refresh rate higher then 60hz (there is this new 120hz craze but still). I'm telling you that you wont see much of a difference between 60hz and 75hz.

On a CRT display you might have seen the difference because of the way a CRT display works.

Once again, do NOT change the refresh rate of your LCD.

The only thing that could use an upgrade if you really want to spend some money is your GPU.

Still, it's not like you really needed too.
