Our district managers at a certain video game retail store, whose initials are GS, have really been on top of us to get pre-orders on these systems. After we received our pamphlet from Sony loaded with info on the Vita, I felt like they had more or less sent us a pamphlet full of bad features. It's price tag was an immediate disappointment. Mind you, it's not really a $250 handheld. As Marky Mark above stated, you'll have to spend a decent bit more for a proprietary memory unit. Sure, $35 for 8GB, however that wont last with all the DLC and digital titles that Sony's been talking up that the system is going to be ALL about. Really, the most logical choice (space wise) for a memory unit is the 32GB at a terrible $120 price tag. So, your "basic" $250 system is now a $400 monster (after tax of course, more than that if you're equipped with a game) that you're carrying around. Personally, I'm not feeling that. That's way to close to the price of 2 PS3s right now. It's battery life is pretty bad too. Anyhoo, I say all that to say this. GS (retail store, not Game Spot) can cram their pre-orders. I haven't cared to push this on anyone, and if anything I've tried to redirect them to the 3DS. The Vita fails, it will fail, and it has already failed, to an extent, in Japan apparently. Nintendo wins again. And so does iPhone. ;)
One of my favorite games of all time was Legacy of Kain: Defiance. I think GS gave it a 6.9. But, it's one of my favorite games. I can see how some people could get really bored with it, but I loved it. I think this was a great article. Maybe it can help that "bad score" stigma that a lot of people have. Zelda: Skyward Sword was probably the worst reviewed Zelda by GS (not that GS didn't like it, just using that as an example), but it's definitely one of the most popular games of last year.
