@ inspectercoley - Well, if your TV has a built-in 2 channel freeview recorder then fair enough, but if it doesn't, it lets you record TV programs onto the hard drive. Why don't you read the article before posting comments which kinda prove you didn't bother to read it. Being able to save programs as unprotected MPEG2 files is a very good addition. Now make it able to record shows when you're playing games and it'll be perfect! I've got a SkyHD box anyway, but we do sometimes get times when we need to record 3 things at once, PlayTV will help at these times. Plus the fact you can record a superb copy of a film off the TV to keep for ever, its brilliant. Now, if you can edit the adverts out by using the (Free) EyeCreate software, that would be superb! But for people without Sky / Cable or who use the PS3 in the bedroom, its a very good solution. And the fact the decoders are HD capable as well is a good bonus, well, it will be when they start nationwide broadcasts in HD! At the moment I believe BBC HD on Freeview is available only around London.

I've got a pre-order for a PS3, but they need to add the ability to stream movies off network shares or at the very least, uPNP servers. I have a lot of ripped movies (legal, I'll point out, I still have the DVDs) on my PC and I want to be able to browse them and watch them on the PS3, just as you can on the 360. I hope its a feature they add through a firmware upgrade.
