I wish I could say I had something resembling interest in this game, but the sheer arrogance of Dave Cox and their spitting on the Castlevania canon just makes it impossible for me to care.

David Cox is now a jerk in my book; he kept talking about how successful LoS was and using that as justification for all that's happening in Castlevania.

I still haven't had any interest in playing anything Lords of Shadow, and I've been one of the series' biggest fans and apologists for years.

@SkylinePigeon I managed to get all the achievements in replays of 1 and 2 leading up to 3. I still have some Shepards that I was planning on using for multiple playthroughs to see how it all ended (male renegade that's a jerk to everyone, female paragon with a rough past and take-no-crap attitude, etc) but I just don't feel like it would be worth it. :(

@SkylinePigeon Ain't it the truth; worst thing is I can't even figure out how to view comments in blogs pre-Livefyre. Although to be fair, they had a commenting feature on news and articles called Talkback around 2001. Anyways, ME3's ending left enough of a sour note with me that I haven't touched anything Mass Effect, not even the multiplayer that I enjoy, since I beat it. 4 achievements left that I just have no interest in getting.

@SkylinePigeon I'm talking about "art" as Brendan Sinclair is in the article. Trying to agree with you here and drop some other examples. >_>

@SkylinePigeon Thank you. It's not just those, but books/general literature get changed up frequently; different editions aren't just reprintings, but new versions where the author and/or editor felt like something needed to be added, removed, or changed later. Riddles in the Dark from The Hobbit, anyone? Sure, it's an example of author-initiated changes, but sometimes fan feedback is what leads to the changes, like Sherlock Holmes not being dead in The Final Problem. What's happening with Mass Effect and Doom isn't new in the world of "art" at all.

The ending to ME3 was insulting, not challenging, to its audience. It's been said in behind the scenes reports like The Final Hours of Mass Effect 3 that they trimmed a lot of what was going to happen in the end originally... releasing an incomplete project for artistic reasons is for all the wrong reasons. It's just as bad as when LucasArts wouldn't let Obsidian finish KOTOR2; I have very little doubt that a lot of people on the ME3 team were worried when they found out what the players were going to get as the final endings. Some say that the ending made you feel something, so it did what it was supposed to... honestly, when the ending came, I was just empty once I realized that it wasn't going to let me negotiate, and I was going to only have to choose between the options provided.

You know, I think most people want the ending explained better or continued, not retconned. :? It's a bit disturbing that no one, not even Bioware, seems to acknowledge this. A game can have a sad or unhappy ending as long as there's some resolution...
