Try going into the desktop tab in display properties, then click on Customize Desktop at the bottom, and then click on Restore Default. Then try adding your wallpaper again.

The RAM should work fine with that board. Did you upgrade the BIOS on the 680i board? I think they're at 29 or 30 now. Make sure you put the RAM into the same colored slots. They shouldn't be right next to each other. Is your processor a 6600 Quad or Dual? If it's quad you need to make sure you have the right motherboard. They put out a new board that has better support for quad cores and if you don't have that one you can send yours back to them to get the new version for free. Also, make sure all of the fans are plugged in.

I've used them before, but I have never received that error. Perhaps it needs to detect that the original is installed before it will let you purchase the expansion?
