Dragon Quest and then Final Fantasy 2 (IV) as a whole. Warcraft II converted me to PC (though that slowly started with Cross Country Canada and the original Bethesda Terminator game from 1990.
The story, plot theme subject matters, and the idea of tackling perception vs reality, is a very intriguing one. It's no easy task, though, so until they actually establish anything in that regard, most will fairly just look at it as another FPS for now.
They haven't in terms of quality. Whether or not their style of gameplay appeals to certain players is another thing. Wrath of the Lich King's cgi movie will be done for pre-release hype. Their team was likely just busy on Starcraft II, thus the delay.
