Looks like us PS3 users won't be able to use GHWT drums with Rock Band after all....

http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101911&page=16

well at least not until they decide to release RB2 outside of the US... in another years time if RB1 was anything to go by....

RiggiLugLug

Obviously you are talking about the RB1 owners outside of the US who also have the GHWT drumset which is officially out in Australia.

Yeah, they really should patch RB1 and not just RB2. I have the imported RB2 game and the Australian GHWT Band Bundle for PS3. I'm playing RB2 on GHWT drums after the RB2 mid-Nov update. Unfortunately, though the XBox GHWT in Asia is officially released as they got DLC on LIVE, the PS3 is getting the shaft by GHWT (except for Austrlia/NZ) for DLC as the official response it "GHWT is not officially released in the region." WTF?!? but it is officially released on XBOX360. Oh thank you SONY! Obviously Activision likes XBOX better than PS3 in Asia outside of Japan/Australia/NZ.

Don't you think this topic could be considered racist? We don't know anything about his friend except his ethnicity? What if GTA would impress him? Maybe Resistance? Chinese people can't like Midnight Club? That's like me saying I have a black friend that I'm trying to impress, should I have chicken or watermelon for him? Anyway, back on topic... Stranglehold?chaotzu
Yes, it possibly could be considered racist but then I'd label anyone who thought that as "whiny little girls" (which line is that tv show from?). Maybe someones trolling? Now if you replace 'ps3 game' with 'food', would the topic still be considered racist? Maybe the person wants to make a visiting Chinese friend comfortable by taking them to a dim sum place in town to show off how international their city is? Or take the friend to a more local joint for some nosh, something different the Chinese friend hasn't eaten before. Isn't that impressive? Anyways, simple question, simple answers from everyone with some in a comedic direction.

Well, let me tell you what local ppl are playing in Hong Kong right now - GoW2, CoD:WaW, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, LBP, Dead Space, GH3, FIFA'09, World of Warcraft. So pretty much everyone else in the world is playing and excited about. Heck, I was lining up with under 600 other locals for the midnite launch of GoW2 including a pregnant woman with her husband. It was a 2.5 hour wait and I had already lined up 2 hours later than usual when it was only barely 100 ppl in line.

Hey, is there a chess game out on PS3 yet?

We should have one.

Scianix-Black

Are you talking regular chess, chinese chess or the game of 'Go'?

How about Mah Jong game? If the OP could play and even beat his Chinese friend, that would sure impress him I bet!

Quick question, do you know how Blu-Ray DVD players claim "to bring standard DVD's to near HD resolution"? Will the Playstation do the same? I have one of those 1080p up-converting DVD players now, and since almost all of my current DVD collection is non Blu-Ray I just don't want to lose resolution playing standard DVD's in the Playstation which I would use to replace my current DVD player.

bizzy420

first of all yes the ps3 can upscale along with other dvd players, but UPSCALING is NO WHERE NEAR the quality of a BLU RAY.

but my 1080p upscaling DVD player sure makes my dvd movies look nice and shiny again. Anyways, I hate region locking as my PS3 will only upscale asian region dvds and I collect R1 dvds. Luckily Blu-Rays only have 3 regions and I can get 'A' region discs.

Any 'Tycoon' -titled game or Monopoly (Hong Kong or China edition). Then again, he probably would have played those to death.

Yes, Rock Band 1 equipment works with World Tour.

I have both sets of equipment from these two games. In GHWT, using the RB1 drums, the notes go down to 4 notes instead of the regular 5 notes since there are only 4 drum pads on the RB1 kit. For the RB1 guitar in GHWT, you'll just use the guitar as usual but I read somewhere here that you can't use the upper keys. I'm mostly playing with the GHWT drums right now and the guitar is great too in RB1 & 2 and GWHT.

Already busy with Gears 2, Fable 2 and LBP this month.

Have to say the demo was awesome! Falling off high places and having the fear of heights holds me back abit in the game though.

Too many great games out this quarter so I'm holding off getting this on release date for a later time (before the end of the year if I can hold out).

I have the game only and use it with my Rock Band 1 drums. Pretty bland presentation and I'm not keen on that middle orange note as the kick pedal nor the up-down note scroll. Songs are good but I haven't really played that much since I bought Rock Band II a few days after that and have been playing it when I have time. Haven't had time to play the guitar parts yet on either RR or RB 2 yet so can't comment there but RB2 should be like RB1.

RR has different play mechanism in that you just don't play to get a high score but there are certain goals/tasks you need to accomplish such as scoring 80% of the notes or the level starts at easy and progress up to hard in one song. You could be playing the song twice in one round. Each 'round' is based on 5 songs racked in picture frame like you would see in a band's gold/platinum record display that hangs on record label's walls. When you complete 3 of the 5 tasks, you are awarded/labelled a gold record trophy. Accomplish all 5 tasks, you are labelled as a platinum record trophy. As I remember, when you get 3 of those tasks, you unlock the next record frame for the next round of 5 tasks or songs. Like I said, I only played around with it for a short time and haven't touched it in a while. I'm playing LBP and Fable 2 and moving onto Gears 2 this weekend. Just too many games this quarter and too little time while holding a 10-12 hour/day job.
