[QUOTE="clearacell"]Capcom needs to recoup some money from RE4 flopping so hard on the PS2. They're counting on sheep to make up for cows disinterest in good games. Timstuff
RE4 on PS2 isn't selling that bad. It probably won't meet Capcom's initial expectation of 2 million copies by the end of march, but it should at least do half of that with all of the awards the game is winning (and I've officially decided that the AIAS awards blow casual barf chunks). Many of the hardcore Resident Evil fans already owned GCNs for REmake and RE0, so most of the people buying the PS2 version are new to the series, so it might take a while to gain serious steam.
And although I own both versions of RE4, I prefer the PS2 version. Why? Because it has more content. "Oh, but teh 216 less polygons and teh 15 less trees in teh backdrop!" is not a compelling enough reason to turn my nose up to the Seperate Ways scenario, new weapons, and the "Ashley Armor" which makes Professional Mode much more bearable (plus there's actually incentive to beat it this time). The GCN version looks better. But the few visual perks it has do not outweigh the value of the PS2 version's new features.
I find it very amusing that Nintendo fanboys often resort to using the term "graphics whore" to describe other fanboys, and yet with Resident Evil 4 they claim that the GCN version's graphics automatically make it superior, even though the PS2 version has a signifigant ammount of added content.
more content is just a gimmick so it could attempt to sell. to bad it didnt.
