According to gamespot DMC3: SE didn't really improve on the original (DMC 3). While Ninja Gaiden basically perfected an already amazing game, and added tons of features.

this is a very strange game indeed

the difficulty kept it from being AAA , and now its too easy , so they flopped it more

i think if this special edition version came out as the dmc3 game it would have been AAA

He did mention it breifly in his review of the original, but for the most part all he talked about was how it kicked his ass in the beginning. Lately his reviews have just been weird, like giving Perfect Dark Zero AAA because of "Teh deatailed weapon modles!"
