v They took that out because neither Sony or the developers ever used it.

Agreed there, veveqa. Graphics don't make a game, as Lair clearly shows according to Gamespot, however they can make the experience more immersive (I'll take the PC Prince of Persia over the PS2 one any day). As for whether it's worth buying again if you have the original, of course it isn't! It isn't a total replacement we're looking at here. It's just a bit of nip and tuck. My PSP got magnetized and the loading times are terrible, so the PSP Slim is quite the worthy purchase for me. For a PSP Brick user however, it isn't that valuble or nesseccary to switch over, unless you can sell it for a bit over the price of the Slim.

sonicboy2 said: "Dea7htrap you r a sony fan boy the ds has beter games psp has about 3 good games i am geting a psp so do not call me a fan boy the fact is nintendo hsa the best hand held market no nintindo is the hand held market and it looks like the home consolle market but the psp is more in the meda playermarket like competing with the ipod and the zune i wuld say the the psp is a mp3 player that can play games" And that's a bad thing? People need to realize that the PSP is NOT a gaming device, it's a MULTIMEDIA device. Why do you think they put the Video, Music, Internet and Game menu icons on the front of the packaging? I do not beleive you are a fanboy, sonicboy2, however Dea7htrap wasn't acting particularly fanboyish-like, and so accusing him of doing so doesn't do well to your self-image.

SplinterCellSC2, naw I'm no FPS gamer, but I personally don't see the FPS genre going well on handhelds. Everybody plays them to go Online most of the time, right? Well the PSP isn't exactly up to it, I haven't even heard of one person going in an online match/duel/thing with it. Secondly, to the main discussion: The second analog nub. Really, it itsn't that nessecary. This is probably because portable seem to be perfect for RPGs and Racers (or at least this one), so I can't see a second nub to be that important. Platformers are abundant too, as are the ever-coming onslaught of EA and 2K# sports games, and the right analog nub wouldn't be that much important in those genres, aside from Platformers. However, Daxter and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters did a well enough job of it. For FPS then it becomes a real problem. Aiming, right? Well if you just put shoot onto the good old Circle, secondary fire to Square, and Action to Triangle, then that leaves the L and R buttons wide open for camera panning. Aiming up and down? Hmm, haven't solved that. Damn. Anyways I did a quick solution for it in about half a minute, and I can imagine that this new scheme would take a bit of getting used to. Oh, and thanks for spelling my username right. You don't know HOW many times people spell it KRABZ. Grr!

v You're not alone there, I expected it to be better than that. Also, who needs a second analog stick?! FPSs are NOT handheld games, even with a second analog stick, people would then complain "whai no L2/R2 $ony?!", and so on. Analog Sticks, or Nubs, in this case, are entirely new to the market, and Sony's doing a decent job for their first attempt (*cough*Lynx*cough*). And the reason why the video out is on the bottom is because it's also the headphone jack. To me it's a great purchase because my current PSP got too close to a magnet and the loading times are worse. It's better as a music player because it doesn't break as often, and video is a nifty feature once you find the right convertor. Video Out makes it all the better because it doesn't cost THAT much to put it into the system and you must realize that people play portables at home. And you know I'm getting a Silver one!

gibbi_1said: "what is the point of a new look when the graphics will still be a downer" That's like saying the DS Lite, the PSone and the PS2 Slimline weren't improvements.

To Latinbro1, I watched a vid from E3 of a Sony guy just showing the new PSP's features, and he said that the RAM boost will be noticed most in games which load as you're playing, such as GTA, Daxter or Burnout where bits of the world are loaded as you into their proximity.

Riley1st, as this is gradually replacing the old one, I would expect it to be around the same price as the Brick ones are now. But then again...

Obviously acerazer has strong feelings against the PSP. To me, it doesn't look like he realizes what the PSP is. It isn't a gaming handheld, it's an entertainment handheld. And if you don't think Video Output to your TV is cool even in the slightest, there's something wrong with you.
