@MAD_AI @Nyar47 @Jhedan Exactly, 4 cores only, 8 threads.

We're assuming they will be using Intel or AMD, but who knows?, They may choose to go with IBM or Sun (Oracle) and a custom RISC CPU.

@MAD_AI Sorry to burst your bubble, but who told you they would be using "retail" CPUs?

Both Intel and AMD have 8 core CPUs and even 12 core ones (Xeon and Opteron), they have been available for the enterprise market (Servers) for at least 3-4 years, so by today's standards they are somewhat "affordable technology".

Correct me if im wrong but are the current gen Xbox's and PS3's CPU available for the "retail market"? I think not, those were custom developed as far as i know. I expect the same for next generation of consoles: custom developed CPUs/GPUs.
