I really don't see the point in comparing the graphics from Halo 1 and 2 to Halo 3. Halo 3 is so obviously going to have better graphics. But when you compare Halo 3 graphics to the graphics of other high-rated X360 games (i.e. Gears and Bio-shock), they're a little bit behind. Don't take that the wrong way, I still think Halo 3 is the best X360 game you can buy. (P.S. Grav Hammer RULES!!!!!!!!!!)
