The 16 Bit Era (particularly the peak between 1991-1194) The game systems were eager to show off what could be done on their systems. Genesis with the silky smooth animations and sprite scaling (software generated), SNES with the hardware background scaling and rotation/mode 7 + great graphics and sound.

Best games of all time came out then, but more importantly, the systems were truly different from each other back then.

Honorary mention: Right now! You can play all the games from the past on the current systems, and the current generation games are great also!

Its funny, I beat the game twice years ago on the Genesis, but have a much harder time almost 20 years later on the Sonic Genesis collection on the PS3. I often have a harder time with the mid-level characters than the ones at the end. From what I remember, I was able to beat Dr. Robotnik pretty easily once I got to him, but the ones before him seemed to be harder.

I recently finally got an HDTV, and I am enjoying watching Blu-Ray movies on it, but then I ask myself if it is worth the difference when I can get still get a great movie experience with DVD's, at a fraction of the cost? I easily see NEW DVD's for well under $10, (in many cases under $5). It's times like this when I have to re-evaluate what I am buying. I found that if it is an epic special effects movie, or action movie, I'll get it on Blu-Ray. But do I really need a comedy to be in Blu-Ray? I do like the trend of movies having both the DVD and the Blu-Ray in the same package, as I only have 1 Blu Ray player, and one HDTV at the moment. However, sometimes, I think its just best to get the DVD when I can get it so cheaply! Your thoughts?

I'm not sure exactly, since I don't have the xbox 360 version. Sometimes the online doesn't work at all though (it gives an error message). As for mic support, I don't use a mic for online gaming for any system, so I don't know about that either. Most matches run pretty smooth online though for PS3, so I don't know. What have you heard?

It wouldn't have been as big of a deal if Xbox 360 had been 100% backwards compatible. Original Xbox rocked. I do understand one thing though, in thatthe Original Xbox was capable of near 1st gen xbox 360 qualitygraphics. (look at Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive Ultimate for proof.) I just hope that Microsoft's next system will have 100% backwards compatibility with Xbox 360.

I think that the IPOD has proven itself as a game platform, and should be available for reviews for games by Gamespot.By doing so, I believe that Gamespot will be keeping up with the times. Your thoughts?

These were all good points, but none were dealbreakers for me.(ok maybe the lack of dual analog would be)Media transfers, while not the easiest to do, are really not that difficult, except for movies, since they first have to be converted. There is Media software sold by SOny though, which will make things a great deal easier.

THe real question, will Microsoft get into the portalbe device picture pictureanytime soon? (I imagine that Zune would have something to do with this)

I still have my PS2 which I got last year. I wanted to know if anyone still plays online with it, as I want to know if it is worth hooking it up to my broadband network. Your feedback is greatly appreciated
