@Damazig: I agree that it's gone way downhill, but that's the price of "journalism" today. Single articles spread over multiple pages, numerous internal links in every article, clickbait titles, anything to get a click to get more ad revenue. It's the only way places like this stay afloat financially.
@Alurit: Didn't Avatar gain momentum after it was released, instead of breaking tons of records up front due to months of hype? Should be interesting to see how long Star Wars' momentum lasts.
@unreal849: Also increasing ticket prices. Adjusting for inflation, Gone With the Wind is still the reigning champion about 77 years after its release.
@Allicrombie: There's been at least one game that used (oddly enough) a visual representation of this concept. I think it was called Devil's Tuning Fork, but I could be way off there. The player would shoot balls of sound and navigate a puzzle platformer by interpreting the waves over the level geometry.
@cboye18: I just think of ZSS as being from Zero Mission. In fact, I was shocked when you called it the worst Metroid game, but I can agree with Other M.
@DeviantCode: I wouldn't be surprised if that's included eventually. The base game is very barebones, yes, but it sounds like they'll be updating it for the next several years. Hopefully at some point it resembles the previous games. Still waiting for practice mode myself.
@Wiro_: I agree that PS4 games are already beautiful, and a Nintendo console more powerful than that would also be beautiful. However, the NX will be seen as the vanguard of the next generation of console hardware rather than a late extension of this one, and there's a real possibility that, 3-5 years after its release, the PS5 will join it and be so much stronger that games can't be easily ported between the two. That's how it is now with the PS4 and Wii U.
I have a horrible, sneaking feeling they're going to jump further into the mobile/smartphone market, and I absolutely believe if Nintendo made a smartphone it would not perform well. Maybe it's something like nVidia's Shield, or maybe (running with the hybrid idea) they'd have mobile companion apps for the console's functionality. All these things sound awful.
@Cryio: That's all well and good, but "faster than the PS4" won't cut it three years after the PS4 went to market. The Wii U was faster than the 360, but it didn't amount to anything.
