I'm surprised most people voted no so far. I thought people would like to keep that money.

People likely would like to keep that money but we understand that taxes have to be paid.

Anyway, why not also make clothes, bandaids, soap, home appliances, and other things that keep us safe tax-deductible as well? My point is simply that your reasoning for why they should be deductible can be applied to countless other things.

Or perhaps they have no clue what tax deductible is....

All this talk about "allowing" them on our planet. Very funny. What do you do when an alien race with far advanced weaponry ends up on your doorstep needing assistance? You certainly don't keep them shut out from us. You certainly don't attack them. What if there are more of them? Like 50 more ships of them..... That ship could be one of many that just happened to get lost. I'm sure we'll find out when we they make the second movie.......

Well... the aliens came here unannounced and they ran out of fuel (AFAIK)... so I'm not sure how we "allowed" it on our planet without even knowing about it. And the only alien who really "knew" about it was the pilot and his son.

Ontain

erm. it was in the devices from the alien ship... none of that would've been allowed on the planet. much less the aliens themselves :S

i don't think if was in ever device or at least not in significant quantities since it took years to collect that container. as for allowing the aliens on the planet. i'm sure they had scientist check them out. you do of course need a little bit of suspension of disbelief to think that our scientist didn't find any of that "fuel" in the devices they must have looked at. although for all we know they might not have thought it was anything since they don't know how the technology works. but the aliens didn't seem like they knew either.

I'm thinking that ship was just a transport ship for the worker bee type of Prawns. The cockpit wasn't very large, suggeting that there wasn't a large navigation/operations crew. I can only imagine what other ships are out there. It's not like the entire race of Prawns built one ship they didn't understand and hopped into, taking a long ride they had no idea where they were going.

I don't think anyone would have to worry about a bad adaptation considering Neil was nominated for best screenplay adaptation.

District 9 (Neil Blomkamp) got Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Screenplay Adaptation. These are 2 nominations that speak to how well a person can make a film, especially the Best Screenplay Adaptation nod. If only Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson had been allowed to make that Halo movie. Those folks at Microsoft who messed up that whole deal should be beaten unmercifully! You now have to wonder how well the Halo movie would have turned out. Microsoft, you suck!

I don't understand the "microsoft is making you pay to use your internet connection" statements. That's not how I'd describe it. XBL is a subscription based service that you use over the internet. It's like having basic cable and upgrading to the premium channels or paying for a magazine subscription that comes through the mail. If you want those services, you have to pay for them. you're not forced to get those products. I know the global economy is rough, but is it really that hard to come up with $50/yr? Get a job people. Mow someone's grass. Shovel a driveway. Rake some leaves. Wash some cars. It's unbelievable how difficult it appears to be for folks to get $50. Probably related to the fact that you can't get people to do anything anymore. (Society....what has happened to you?)

I've been playing console online games since the days of way back and I have to admit, the XBL service is the best. Not sure how they do it, but it sure is nice never having to worry about games dropping out, lagging, cheaters/glitchers, servers locking up, unbalanced matchmaking, etc. I watched some guys playing COD:WaW on the PS3 (very beautiful graphics, I admit) and it was crazy. the connections would vary, characters would occasionally skip across the screen, games would sometimes drop due to server/host issues. It was a mess. It reminded me of the SOCOM (my most favoritest game in all the land!!!) days on PS2. That stuff should not be happening.

Don't get me wrong free is great! Sometimes, though, you get what you pay for.
