I wonder if the prices are based on availability in each country separately or just based on the exchange rate? The pounds to dollar conversion is wrong if it is; £1647 is equivalent to $2670. So in the UK, we would have to pay £300 more for the same rig due to VAT?.... so how are we getting value for money.

In any case, some of the parts listed above have extortionate prices. Have to agree with IndiePrower; solid state drives aren't really worth the money. I mean, they're great and all, but not so good to justify the massive price tag. Maybe in 5 yrs time when prices have dropped considerably they will become a standard, but atm just not worth it unless you have money to burn. In fact, just don't see the point in this whole process. A good rig could be put together for a grand, so you are paying £650 more to save on maybe a square foot of space?!

How about including some famous birds from around the world in the next release. Fighting the giant chicken from family guy? Or take a leaf from some 'mainstream' games; Big bird from sesame street vs some zombified nazi pigeons? So much potential lol

Nice article. Makes some good points, and i think really highlights the fact that the large companies no longer care for gamers' enjoyment, but are just looking to squeeze out an extra couple of quid for higher sales. Sure, publishers business has to be financially viable in the current economic environment, but games are so overpriced that it really is a slap in the face to give additional tariffs to second hand gamers. It really does digust me. When i was young, i had to buy my sega megadrive/ps1 games second hand, because i just could not afford to pay full price. I feel sorry for young gamers now, who have to save up for an age to then pay top money for really rather average games. And now they are discouraging second hand sales? Poor show. Just poor show.

It sounds very nice, but at the end of the day, its success will be determined by the availability of software that uses it. If developers really decide to make use of the move, then it has a lot of potential. However, it could also turn into a gimmick. Only time will tell.
