I am of the opinion that ideology is utterly, utterly stupid and that the political spectrum oversimplifies to the point that even its convenience ought to be overlooked in favour of doing away with the metaphor altogether.D_Battery
Thats a valid feeling and opinion, honestly all that divides people by over-simplified matters is a great way to keep important agendas from being resolved. There is no unity in this country about anything it seems , other than over simplified , over saturated agendas the media "makes" important. Like earthquakes as an example, its a big deal now , but scientist say there has been no increase in earthquakes , only an increase in the medias saturation of them.

We can't solve our immigration problems if the standard of living in Mexico doesn't improve. If Mexico remains a ridiculously corrupt, dangerous place to live, Mexicans are going to go through extreme lengths to come to America. You can build a fence, you can militarize the border, you can ask every Hispanic-looking person in the U.S. for their papers, but none of these things are going to improve anyones situation. If we are going to solve our immigration problem we need Mexicans to want to stay in Mexico.

And why can't you criticize your country to other world leaders?

-Sun_Tzu-

You make a very good point I have to say the best one in the thread so far out of them all . Standards of living . . I wont even add to the excellence of this comment

about the last part , I think the problem that people have with our president critizing us , is that he is playing a stern defensive father figure , that needs to scold his children

economic cost? Our entire society is bad for economic cost.

If you are a legal resident without documentation , when they investigate to figure out wheo the heck u are , they will simply see you are a citizen without the papers. isnt this what the heck social security numbers are for? If your a real citizen you have nothing to fear my god this is rediculous

To attack a person who would put their life in danger for YOU., I simply do not understand why you would want to do this in the first place. Look at our law enforcement compared to some (basically Gestapo) in other countries . . . ungrateful people

Is Quebec part of the package?

It's a trap!

Canada has been trying to pawn off Quebec on us for years. And the answer is always the same, "You take New Jersey, and then we'll take Quebec". Fair trade I say.

^^^ LoL :-D

Arguments against this law: 1) America has civil rights, as does the whole of the western world. Just because you're an immigrant doesn't mean you should not be granted the same BASIC human rights as everyone else. Ie you should not be harassed by the police because you have a certain skin color. 2) Oklahoma lost over $1 billion in harsh immigrant laws which created a culture of fear amongst latino communities who moved out of the state and took their work and taxes with them. This will do the same, which will be even more devastating to Arizona because its legislators were too short-sighted to see that the immigrants which they hate so much constitute the bulk of its work force. 3) It makes life harder for the police as the massive immigrant population will no longer report a crime or testify as a witness lest they be deported. 4) It has a very controversial and vague clause saying that a police officer MUST check your residential status if there exists reasonable suspicion that you're an illegal alien. It makes no mention of what 'reasonable suspicion' actually, is essentially giving the police carte blanche to stop people for having the wrong skin color. There you go.

1. Yes human rights is what makes this country a champion of the free world. BASIC human rights? last i checked they have a job , buy food, drive cars, ect. I think Illegals are quite comfortable actually , visit North Korea or Haiti.

2. All I can say is if you have nothing to hide , obviously you have nothing to fear . . strange huh?

3. I agree with you , such a shame people would rather protect criminals then come forth, this is a problem of exploitation and racketeering by criminals creating this state of fear

4. If you get into trouble with the law they will ask for identification, fact of life since the idea of law enforcement, if you dont have anyway to show who you are what do you want them to do , say okay sorry to bother you stranger , be safe now ya hear'?
