[QUOTE="MrYaotubo"] Because a high quality game doesn´t rely solely on challenge,even if you take that away they will still be great for what they are,the Souls games however,without that are pretty average games. There´s a reason to why so many souls fanboys are really afraid that DS2 will introduce difficulty settings,because with those,previous souls games could be finished easily in 10h or less and the game itself would be exposed for what it really is at it´s core,while other RPG´s(western in this case) don´t have the same issue at all,they don´t artificially extend the game with grinding for the most part and even if you breeze through them at the easiest difficulty setting you´re still gonna get,two,three or even more times the longevity when compared to the souls games,and if all those games had no difficulty settings to choose from and were on the equivalent of their higher difficulties,you would have games about as challengibg as the souls games but much,much longer and with a lot more content to play through.

This is a bad argument. Gameplay is the most important factor in a game and the Souls series is difficult as a result of it's compelling gameplay. You could make the game easier, dramatically increase player health and damage, but at that point the game would become a very slow moving hack and slash. It's because of the way the game is designed that timing your swings matter, blocking and managing your stamina matter, and choosing the right weapon, shield, or spells can all have a profound impact. Take a game like Skyrim which has an absolutely abysmal combat system and make try and make it better. The result would be a more difficult game and one that might be worth playing. No one is afraid that Dark Souls II would be "exposed" if the difficulty were dropped. They're afraid that the gameplay would suffer, which again is profoundly more important than things like hours of exposition about dragons and politics. Bad gameplay makes bad games. Which is why a lot of WRPGs are garbage.

Yes, Western Western RPGs are terrible, or at least the popular ones are. ME, DAO, TES, all held up as paragons of the WRPG genre and they're all garbage.

[QUOTE="ghostwarrior786"]

think about it this way. even if it is more expensive ps3 owners could sell their console and buy ps4 for virtually the same price. i doubt it would cost sony that much

ghostwarrior786

Then who would buy a Ps3 if it's virtually the same price ?

u misundertood, what i am saying is you could recoup the extra money you would pay for ps4 with bc by selling your ps3.

And what about people that don't own a PS3 but plan on getting a PS4? This would be a bad move for Sony. The general population does not want to pay more for a console so it can play old games.

Assassin's Creed needs to die. It's a terrible series from beginning to end. God of War should retire while it's still respectable. There isn't much left to do with it. Bring back Jet Moto.

Menus, drag and drop, zoom in/out, web browsing, select groups of units (though RTS would still be terrible on consoles), an extra button that could be used for just about anything. It's hardly revolutionary, but I don't get why people are acting like it's useless either. It's a fairly innocuous feature that could be used for a lot of things if devs feel like utilizing it. If they don't, no skin off my back. It's not like the system is being designed around the touchpad.

No because BC would significantly raise costs, and my PS3 still works just fine.

With games like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, I would say no.

DivineSword
I love these 2 games. They are 2 of the best this generation, if not ever. But they are the exception not the rule. The VG industry has moved in to the mainstream and now caters to the lowest common denominator. Just like Hollywood and the music industry, most of the new releases are terrible. profits >integrity Yes video games (in general) are getting worse. The few companies that actually take risks, innovate, and try to differentiate themselves have the tools to make the greatest games every dreamed of however.

[QUOTE="black_chamber99"]

suddenly everyone in this thread is a bodybuilder.

gimme a break

FlamesOfGrey

There's a big difference between a weight lifter and bodybuilder. What do you think just because stereotypical gamers are either skinny or fat nerds, all of us are like that? It's 2013 dude. :lol:

QFT. I'm not a "bodybuilder" and neither are most people on Bodybuilding.com, but I've spent a lot of time on those forums and you'd be surprised how many WoW and other video game addicts there are on that site. And for what it's worth I've almost always been a skinny nerd. It's only in the last 2 years or so that I've gained 40 lbs. Lifting is rather cathartic.
