This game is good. But I would not call it superb. There are still GLARINGLY, ANNOYING physical limitations to this game. Number one issue in my book, and I am positive that people will not agree, is the stick lift. I mean what were they thinking? A lot of people have spent too much time complaining about the poke check because you get a penalty every single time for it......But the stick lifting? Im actually shocked that more people havent complained about it. Its simply too powerful. Go ahead, tell me to get better or whatever your excuse is for defending the stick lift, but its a fact.

Forwards that I know are vehemently defending the stick lift, saying its great............THAT is because they dont play defense. Being a defenseman, it makes me absolutely helpless. As soon as I break up a pass with my excellent positioning, it doesnt matter, because a forward will be standing right next to you hitting the A button and simply taking the puck from you, before you even have a moment to think about what your going to do with the puck. EA has successfully taken away every tool imaginable from the defenseman, so much so, that I dont even want to play D anymore. Use the skill stick to break up a rush? NOPE, tripping penalty! Poke check on the wall to break up a play? NOPE, thats a penalty! Its really horrendous....... As soon as i get the puck, i go to pass.......nope someone stick lifted me already. I go to flip the puck out. NOPE someone stick lifted me before I had time to do that.

While I applaud all of the steps forward EA has taken, with the skating physics, and a lot of the other positive attributes they have fixed, they always seem to take a step backwards in other awful ways.

It seems that EA is rewarding all of the people with no hockey sense.........Over the blue line, spin, spin some more, spin some more, until someone takes a tripping penalty......Score on the ensuing power play. Wow this is fun! Get your head out of your A EA, and pay attention to the details......If you are going to bill this as SIM hockey, get the little things correct. People miss stick lifts you know! Defenseman have more than .2 seconds to make a decision in real hockey you know! Beyond the excellent improved skating model, EA has a lot to fix in this game. Stop catering to all of the whiners that cry to their mommies when they dont have 6 points a game, and make it more realistic........Unfortunately, how it stands this game is not very good at what it sets out to achieve!!!

@Lhomity @Fnwiseguy @Cheekz77 Unlike illiterates like you, it only takes me 5 minutes to write 150 words. How is that whining? Talk about a generalization.....according to Cheek, if you buy boosts you suck at the game......yeah that seemed like a very intelligent assumption that I had to rebut.......Thanks for your concern though Lhomity.

@Cheekz77 Some people dont live in mom and dads basement, and have hours upon hours to invest in offline play. I guess you thought, like you, everyone has their mom bring down tuna sandwiches and koolaid while you sure up on all the boosts after school right? Some of us play in the EASHL exclusively, and have to be responsible and have jobs, lives......Not everyone can play the offline mode for hours on end.......So why dont you man up and get a job and contribute to society so that us responsible people dont have to buy boosts to compete with all of the glitching flaws you found in the game from your endless hours of play? How bout that?

I applaud this review. And you can all blast me as much as you see fit, but I have to be honest. This is NHL 13 with a better fighting engine and more ridiculous hits. Other than that, this could have all been an updated patch for what was wrong with NHL13 to begin with. I have been playing this NHL franchise since 08, and I am tired of the excuses from EA when it comes to supporting this game. Halfway through the year, it will be a glitchfest, and wont even resemble a realistic hockey game. People will be exposing the weak AI, and Spamming the poke check, and spamming the deke moves so that no defenseman has the chance to stop, and EA will do nothing about it. They will just work on the next version, and not give a hoot....thats how EA rolls.

Say what you want. The people who spend the money on Boosts (me included) every year (about 65-70 $ worth) what do we get? We get NHL 13 MINUS the boosts we already paid for. ITS INEXCUSABLE. And while everyone on this board looks like they will disagree from what I see, us hardcore players know the dealio. Step up......make a better experience.....Stop making it so easy and safe. Fix the STUPID AI.......INEXCUSABLE AI! Stop catering to all the whiny people who whine and whine when its hard to score, and start treating your fans better is all Im saying. I feel like I have been robbed. If there were more than 2 people at EA working on this new iteration I would be SHOCKED. When you spend the kind of time and money like I do, you have a right to speak your mind. And EA should be ashamed of themselves for spitting the same game out and duping everyone out of 60 bucks. I know that there are people that feel the same way!

@laser00 @EdotheHero Yes it was confirmed that it was being played on a PC........What else could it be? Laser, your dreaming if you think the PS3 could pull off that kind of detail.....your talking about 6 year old technology.........(PS3) the PS3 is getting long in the tooth for SURE!!
