Newsflash: Movies are not games. Novels are not games. Now that I've blown your mind, let's move on.

Movies and books cannot be "fixed" with patches. In fact, there's is almost nothing games have in common with either books or movies aside from being "art." Sinclair is not right in saying that if they change their original work, they must have not cared enough. However, the Mass Effect 3 ending was a mess. From a storytelling standpoint, it was bad. From a gameplay perspective, it was bad. There is no way you can look at the ending and say "man, that was satisfying. I'm glad I played the Mass Effect series." The last ten minutes of Mass Effect 3 almost ruin the entire series.

As for Doom 3, anyone who thinks that being handicapped to not being able to tape (or have an attachment that lets you stick) your light onto your weapon is a moron. "Oh shoot, its dark. I guess I'll have to wander around blind, because there's no way I could possibly wield both my light and a firearm at once." It disregards basic human instincts (like SEEING and being efficient) in favor of railroading you into stumbling around because apparently having a lobotomy and forgetting how to use tape or how to hold two things at once is scary.

Should game creators change a part of their content in order to appease their fans? 99% of the time, I'd say no. However, both Doom 3 and Mass Effect 3 have very specific issues that are legitimate. Sure, some of the fans take it too far, but that does not, in any way, detract from the issue. Claiming that a developer shouldn't change their ending because a minutely small fraction of the player base complained too hard is moronic. The issues are still there. The Ending still makes Twilight look like a masterpiece in comparison. Don't hide behind artistic integrity. If you f***ed up, own up to it. If you created a purposefully handicapping mechanic that made zero sense and nobody liked it, own up to it. Don't claim that we're all entitled whining fans who don't know what we're talking about, own up to it, be a f***ing adult about it, and maybe next time you won't make stupid design choices that piss off 90% of your fans.
