Then by that creed surely it should be getting severely marked down for its potential glorification of violence, drug abuse, hedonism, theft.
If you are going to cite a moralistic standpoint you can't just hone in on one element of the game. Apply your standards entirely or not at all. This kind of selective altruism is what lets all the 'games are a bad influence' ignoramuses run amok.

This 'satire should comment on what it is replicating' is absolutely ludicrous. Satire can be an exaggerated and heightened canvass from which an audience gleans its own messages and parody/pastiche. If you seriously can't play GTAV and realise it's 'misogynistic' representation of women isn't repeatedly tongue in cheek and a canny parody of the over-sexualisation of practically everything in American culture nowadays then you must be pretty obtuse.
If you need your hand held and given neat surmising explanations of satirical content or require blatant irony to be laid out and highlighted or challenged then maybe you don't have the wit or perception to be getting so high on your 'professional critic' pedestal.
Gamespot critiquing on the basis of inconsistency in any shape way or form is the most ironic and hypocritical thing ever.
Disregarded this site as a review platform a long time ago now, I'm not angry it hasn't received a 9.5 or higher because I've not played the game yet myself so I'm not in a position to weigh in, but time and time again this website has so blatantly and self-evidently demonstrated it is giving it's somewhat stricter scores for the hits and visits, and it's surprising that people don't realise this - look at how many people are commenting and viewing!
It's a shame that visitors stats and the business side of things has taken over the original intention of what was genuinely once my favourite and most respected games website on the net.
