ITS BECAUSE YOUR XBOX 360 IS CLOGGED WITH DUST!!!
the heatsinks get covered in dust overtime meaning its harder for air to be pulled through to cool them so the fan speed increases and will continue as dust builds until there is so much dust and little airflow that it overheats very quickly
you need to give it a good spray with soem compressed air in each vent or something but that is what is happening trust me i fixed my m8's box by doing it and its also common sense! so do it

I just did this, and I've done it before but with a vacuum instead. I used a hose attachment and sucked as much out of it as I could.
Hey how long, and which openings did you use the canned air on? I got the back and bottom for a good time. Dust has come out but I havent given it a go to see if it works. I'm going to use the air one more time.
