The point is that no one can know what these devices are actually used for or why they were bought. A sale is a sale. It isn't that complicated.
And there is no inconsistency with the other comment.
PS3 = 2.1 + 1.8 + 3.7 = 7.6M end Sept + 6.5 = 14.1M full year
X360 = 2.7 + 1.7 + 2.3 = 6.7M end Sept + 8.2 = 14.9M full year
The 360 had excellent momentum with Kinect early last year. The PS3 had excellent Q3 numbers with a price drop. X360 had a craptacular Q3. But X360 had a fantastic Q4. Sony had an excellent Q4 but didn't carry the Q3 momentum to the full extent.
Stop kidding yourself. You KNOW that that has been far more pronounced with the 360. PROD was/is the single greatest electronic failure in the history of mankind. NOTHING comes close. And there were literally MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of PROD victims who had to keep buying 360's again and again until finally getting a working one. It was so bad thay the "government" had to step in and FORCE M$ to do something about it. Guess what the solution was to get unbanned??? To buy another 360. Once microsoft realised it was watchdog on to them, microsoft admitted that it was their fault all along and it was a software error. So How many 360 sold where to do with this aswell? was this another way for microsoft to force existing customers to buy yet another 360???. So the article IGN posted does make sense and explains how ps3 caught up. Disagree? well you explain how ps3 caught up in sales??. Plus if you look at ps3 sales blocked in Europe by LG and the psn hack, ps3 went through alot of crap and still sold loads....I know its all if's but's and maybe's but what if the ps3 didn't face sales being blocked or face the psn hack?. Now i know you say vgchartz can't be trusted etc but its showing sales on a weekly bases and so far in 2012, ps3 leading. Is this accurate? does it matter?. So what does matter? GAMES! and 2011 and 2012 is looking pretty bleak for 360, after all the 360 is all about the games, or so it was back in 2007 lol. So what now?. Yep, the numbers are definitely official, but here's the thing. They are for units SHIPPED and NOT for actual units sold. There have been other sources, which do as best as they can to track units actually sold, and whats been closer to the actual truth is that the PS3 has sold more. But who gives a rats ass either way. You cant put sales into a console and play it like some lems would have you to believe -by the way they obnoxiously post and or act So thankfully PS3 still has those great exclusive coming for us! unlike another certain kinectbox console *cough *well those numbers seem pretty official. hard to see how folks can argue with them. yet folks are.......some absolutely embarassing behaviour going on in this thread. reminds me of why i stoppped posting around here. lol

Thing is,other sites say what they like with No real figures to back it up. So i show you actual figures, yet its all bull cause you say so...lol get with it man, facts are facts. Other wise you explain how ps3 goes from being well behind in sales from being released 1 year later and having a slow start to catching up to what it is now. Just by logic alone, proves ps3 has to be selling more to be able to close the gap it has. The links i provided kinda proves it.
