Didn't mention it but I do already own the Orange Box; and couldn't agree more. But I dont like all the werid things that people have incorporated into TF2. Also just been playing it since it came out lol.

The witcher huh... alright I'll check it out. Can anyone give a positive rating for BadCompany 2?

Hello Community!

So I need your help! I am a poor recent grad. from college and want to buy a new game for my PC. I custom built my machine so specs. are not an issue- any game is fine. The only limitation- since I am on a budget, I'm looking at the second release games (the ones for 29.99 or so). This isn't really a bad thing though- there are MANY great games out right now for that price.

I am looking for a game that has some staying power as I cannot afford a game every few months- and subcription games must be EPIC to be concidered. I also like to "green game" for those who catch the underlying message. ;)

I like every genre. For shooters (of which I am a huge fan) I'm concidering Battlefield Bad Company 2; its multiplayer looks fantastic. I am also considering Fallout 3. I was a fan of the first 2, but I demo'd the game for the 360 and was unimpressed with the controls. I LOVE love strat. games. Currently finishing up Medieval total war II and having lots of fun. Concidering Empire total war but not sure if I want to deal with the AI problems that have been reported.

All that said- some of the best gaming experiences I've had have come from story driven games like Assassins Creed (1 and 2), and Mass Effect 1.

So now I need your help! I really cant decide what to do! Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Sorry, I dont have many games to suggest, but hear hear to people still looking for strategy.

Like the first poster, I too did alot of hardcore tactical games like FSW and Rainbow Six; but lately that genre has all but died to my dismay. But anyways, a tip of my hat to those few remaining gamers who still remember the good ol' days of rainbow six like tactics. :)

If I had to suggest a two person strat. game, I would go with Rainbow Six Raven Shield. One person runs one squad while the other person runs the other squad. Very good times- and the most rewarding feeling ive gotten playing games when both of us perfectly breach a room full of tangos and clear the room without any enemy gun fire...

I unfortunately am one of the people who doesn't want to accept the fate of the PC. I still believe that the PC will always hold a place in gaming, maybe not as much as consoles, but the PC will NEVER go away. Offices and homes will still need a computer, and because of that- games will always be available. But- I do see mainstream gaming going away from PC and it scares me. I think we only have two saviors on the horizon.

Believe it or not, I truely believe games for Windows LIVE and cross platform will be a positive force for PC gaming. Many gamers wont be forced to choose to pick a console or PC; and I can almost garentee the PC will do everything the console will do, not the other way around.

I also think that if PC publishers would pull their heads out there ;) about piracy and copyright protection things would get much better. Although, ulimately its us PC gamers who pirate that cause this problem.

SO- I, being a PC Gamer, Promise to the Gaming Community to NEVER Pirate a PC Video Game to hopefully Stop the Downfall of the PC Gaming Community. I encourage many of you to do the same.

It's nice to find out that there are others who feel the same. I would definitely support a new line of tactical shooters; although I would like the Rainbow Six name back! In terms of tactical shooters.. what are you guys playing to fulfill that type.

What happened to the Tom Clancy games? Yes, I know they exist in title, but they used to be about tactics. I have played the new Rainbow Six games and I feel they are a total failure on what the series was known for. I was going to forgive Lockdown; I was going to only sigh at Vegas, but now that Vegas 2 provides more of the same I must contest. I loved the strategy and tactics involved in the original Rainbow Six series. Raven Shield is still a game I frequently play when I need some of the best shooter and tactic gameplay. Even Ghost Recon with its claim to tactics falls short of its ancestors. Maybe I'm getting old and reminiscing on old games that actually had some thinking involved, but I just can't help but frown when I see the Rainbow Six title on these action FPS games. Rainbow Six was tactics. Now it is action. A sad change.

ha, yea, that mac is good.. but learn your hardware first. PC hardware is less expensive, and mac's top of the line comp. is twice the price of the hardware alone, and its not even top of the line hardware. Yes, i know that the hardware is specially picked and you pay for the OS and everything eles but come on; gamers are mostly system builders and mac's are just to damn expensive for something I can build for half the price.
