I'm at a loss here. So handheld games are now being rated against console games? Is this some new standard when reviewing handheld games at Gamespot? Was Super Street Fighter IV on the 3DS rated against the console versions or was it's rating measured against other fighters available on a handheld? Because, to me, it looks like you're just arbitrarily deciding to pit one game against what's on the consoles, and then another game is compared to what's available in the handheld sphere.

I know it's all just opinion, and these are different reviewers, but aren't there some sort of editorial standards at Gamespot that say "When reviewing a game, perhaps we shouldn't be making apples to oranges comparisons." I mean, what's next? Are we going to start docking marks on Vita games because it doesn't offer the same experience as we see on a high end gaming PC?

@cavs25 How on earth does she through a "hissy fit"? She mentioned it, felt it was over the top and didn't serve the overall satirical nature of the game and that was it. She certainly isn't the only reviewer who mentioned this. Should we fire every single reviewer for this game that used the word misogyny in their review? Of course not. She stated, quite plainly, that she viewed the level of misogyny as over the top and felt it didn't add anything. That's her opinion, which she's entitled too. She isn't making a "statement," she's offering her honest opinion of a game.

@Carton_of_milk But if the level of misogyny in a game impacted your enjoyment of the game (or movie) wouldn't you think the reviewer would have a obligation to their readers to share this opinion? It's their job, after all. If the level of sexism served a purpose to the story, you could make an argument for it's inclusion. This reviewer obviously doesn't think it adds anything. She seems more concerned about the inconsistency of the main characters though, but I don't see anyone taking issue with that.

@green_scorpion Yeah, she certainly isn't the only reviewer to note the over-the-top sexism in this particular game. Should we have all their heads? Jim Sterling didn't like the main characters. Should he be fired too for sharing that opinion?

If this was a movie review and the reviewer felt the level of misogyny impacted their enjoyment of the movie, would we fault them for mentioning that? Of course not. These are opinions. If you don't agree, move on, but you can't fault them for sharing them. It's their job.

@Devil_wings00 I couldn't agree more. It's sad how the focus shifted instantly to videogames instead of how did an 8 year old have ready access to guns and ammunition. Or where his parents were, or why a child was allowed to consume media intended for adults.
