Some people in here need to get a clue. "Wiis don't overheat, only defective Wiis overheat." What the hell is that supposed to mean? Every single Wii gets hot to the touch when left in standby mode with an active wireless internet connection. If left in this state for too long (weeks, months possibly) it is very likely to become damaged internally. Perhaps some Wiis are more susceptible to overheating than others, but this is merely up to manufacturing discrepencies. The fact is that the Wii has a major design flaw that Nintendo needs to remedy.

My Wii is going back to Nintendo thanks to this very problem.

Lol, no no. The 360 is what you call major design flaw. If your Wii get's hot to touch then it IS indeed defective. It gets warm not hot, there is a huge difference people. Wii's are meant to withstand heat and the majority do just that some don't like yours but if there was a design flaw we'd have seen many more Wiis being sent back.

I don;t think GPU and graphic cards or anyother computer chip are built to withstand high temperature. If they are then nintendo wouldn't even install a fan in the Wii system in the first place. I have a nintendo Wii myself and I brought it this June. I got my Wii to go online a few days ago. I left it at standby mode for one night to test out this theory of "WiiConnect24 overheat system". As it turned out, the system got very warm. Not steaming hot but warmer then normal. It was even warmer than after I played Resdient Evil 4 for 10 hours (With breaks in between and I didn't turn off the system). Now, I turned off WiiConnect24 after everytime I use my Wii. Some people can call my system a defect if they want but I don't think my system was defective consider how recently I bought my system.

I don't know if anybody asked this before. I am wondering if Gamespot reviewers reviewed their console games with consoles hooked up to HD component cables and such. For example Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. Did Gamespot have HD component cables hooked up to their console or just standard cable? Just wondering.
