Ok, i didnt really get a clear answer before...

Right now im getting by with this crappy 7600GS, and since i own a PS3/360, i see no point in spending any money on a PC that has nothing but Crysis and some RTS games...

So, hermits, or people with a 360/Super RIG, Justify what makes that rig worth it...what games do you have that the consoles dont

R-Dot-Yung
If all you do is play games, then maybe you can't justify a PC. Personally, I build a new system about every six months and I usually drop $2k to $3k doing it (not counting systems I use for development, production or work). Is it worth it? Hell yes, it's worth it. How else am I going to play FPS games and RTS games and decent RPGs? Like I'm going to play Unreal or Civilization IV or Half Life on a console?! Meh. And yes, I do own consoles (all of them), but I still hit the PC for the real gaming.

Not me. I have one 360 that is dead (the optical drive is apparently failing, because it tells me that EVERY disc I put in should be put into an XBOX 360... which... is what I'm putting the damn discs into). Fortunately, I bought a second 360 as soon as the first one died, so I always have a spare when one is in the shop. Also, while I'm looking forward to picking Halo 3 up monday night, it's still just Halo... and I don't particularly care for FPS games on consoles (lack of precision, control, accurate strafing, swift movement while firing, etc).

so anybody know of any ways to prevent rrod or if playing time has anything to do with it , im assuming those who get it play it for long amounts of time , i only play mine about 1 hour a dayTheRarelyHonest
The only way to prevent it is not to buy a 360. I'm not going to drive my car one mile a day, just because the car is known to die if I drive it twenty. I bought it. I want use out of it. And yes, the 360 will simply fail out of... well... regular use. Mine is in an open environment with a fan blowing through the area (necessary since I have other devices in my entertainment center, of course). I've gone through two already. I currently own two, just so I can use the spare when the other is being repaired.

can't wait. I'm going around seven after school, the guy who works there says lines should fill up around the block and they should start getting packed around 9pm monday

Why in the hell are you lining up so early? If you pre-ordered it, I'm sure you can just walk in and buy it. I mean, where in the hell do you live that you don't have a nice out of the way store to pick the game up without waiting in line? When we lined up for Madden 08 in Denver, there were about ten people alongside us at midnight. I don't expect there to be many more this time around. And if there are (doubt it), I'll just go back later in the day and pick it up.

Since you have the nice setup, go for the elite.Tree06
That doesn't make any sense. Since he has a nice television, he should go for an elite? Care to explain why? The **ONLY** reason to go HDMI is if you want 1080p. For 1080p, your television has to support native 1080p and you need to have games that are in 1080p. At the moment, there is no 1080p content on the XBOX 360. And all we know about his television is that it's a "52 inch Samsung". We don't even know if it's a Samsung that does 1080p, so even if there were XBOX 360 content in 1080p, it wouldn't matter if his television doesn't do 1080p. Quality component cables will blow away HDMI any day for everything except 1080*p* (and I'm sure that Microsoft's provided HDMI cable will be at the lowest of the low-end when it comes to HDMI cables, too). So here is what you do: If you have a television that does 1080p **AND** you expect to have worthwhile 1080p content on the XBOX 360 any time soon (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this as well since I would love to have more 1080p content for my entertainment system) -- AND you don't mind the extra $80 for it, then go for it. On the other hand, if your television does not do 1080p or you don't expect there to be any 1080p content on XBOX that will be of interest to you or $80 is a significant amount to you... then skip it. There is nothing magical or special about HDMI and you can do your own research easily via google and various A/V resources for the details... but definitely don't buy into all the people who don't know what they're talking about trying to tell you that HDMI is some sort of next evolution in quality. The **MAIN** feature of HDMI is HDCP.... which is copyright control. It lets corporations control what content you can put through that device and what you can do with it. If you don't mind paying to give them that right, then go for it.

definitely ELITE

120 gig hardrive is enough reason, hdmi is a major plus too... and two controllers I believe also

ygohome
HDMI is a major plus? Really? Why exactly do you find it to be a major plus? Are you really that eager to have HDCP in your system so corporations can control content and what you do with your content? That's all HDMI really offers you -- except for the bandwidth for 1080p (versus 1080i which is the limit of component cables, which most A/V guys prefer). I don't know of any A/V geek that sees HDMI as anything other than a gimmick and a scam (though granted it is a gimmick and a scam that allows you to pump 1080p to your television). Now, I *do* have a 65" 1080p television... but there is no 1080p XBOX 360 games. So who cares?! It's hardly worth an extra $80 for a cable that further infringes on your consumer rights and offers you nothing in return (currently). Don't fall for the idea that there's something great about HDMI there is not.

I simply want to be able to use my speakers for my gaming and have a headset that is nothing more than a mic (and possibly an earpiece for the return conversation). Unfortunately, there only seem to be two or three options - such as the official Microsoft 360 Wireless Communicator which has a tiny mic-boom that wouldn't reach your cheek, has a bad battery life and supposedly picks up ambient noise like crazy. I'd like something that will pick up my voice clearly, but not piss off other people I'm talking to because of any weird echo, feedback or distortion provided by the speakers in the room.

So I've owned my 360 for over a year and almost never play online games, because people tend to kick you off as soon as they see you don't have a headset. I do have a headset (a nice wireless turtlebeach), but I don't use it because I also have a $20,000 Bowers & WIlkins audio setup on my entertainment system and I don't want to sacrifice the enjoyment of my audio system while playing games, just so I can communicate with some ten year old dork in GWAR2. Are there any quality headset microphones that are just mics and not headphones? Preferably that would plug into the wireless controller and that won't have problems with feedback or room noise of my speaker system? It just seems ridiculous to do all your gaming through a cheap set of headphones, simply so you can talk to people. Any guidance certainly appreciated.
