After getting a PS3 for Xmas I'm finally at peace with my Wii.

My Wii was initially fun at first due to the innovative motion controls but I quickly became frustrated at a lack of HC games and Shovelware pushed out on the system.

Now after getting a PS3 I can relax and enjoy my Wii for what it was designed for; Party type games and Mario Titles...

Now I can look forward to Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 for the PS3 and I can stop obsessing about when a new excellent multiplayer FPS game is going to be released for Wii.

IMHO the Wii is a great console. As long as it's supplemented with a 360 or PS3. Especially if your a gamer who is looking to play some great HC titles and are frustrated with the lack of Agood FPS and other games currently out for the Wii.

Trying to decide between the two...

I'm really wanting a 2plyr split screen w/ local play as well as local split screen (co-op) & online, FPS Title, for my PS3 collection.

I'll probably be picking up KZ2 when it comes out but want a decent, "Local" split screen w/Online, FPS Title, in the meantime.

What do you all suggest and why?

Big thanks :)

Man my PS3 gets hot and the fans really start blowing when watching DvD's but it's cool and quiet when gaming for an hour or two?

Why is this?

Do you play DVDs in 1080p? It's probably the upscaling and enhancing of the picture.

Actually 1080i cause that's the max rez of my current HD set... Do ou think BR DvD's are easier on the system due to the unneeded upscaling and picture enhancement as opposed to a regular DvD???

because a ps3 is a gaming system too and as such when it turns on everything turns on with it. hard drives, graphics card, ram, cell processor....which all generates heat.

Sounds like a Firmware update could possibly put some of the CPU Cells on standby or something when playing DvD's.....Hmmmmm

Do you all "enable" this feature in the console settings?

I'm wondering if it causes the PS3 to work harder/hotter or could cause pauses during movie in BR DvD playback cause it has to keep an active internet connection running in the background?

Funny though...

My neighbor just got a Sony Blue Ray Player and it doesn't seem to work hard at all when playing BR DvD's or upscaling standard DvD's. NO cooling fans that I could see or feel, it doesn't get hot at all (even in an enclosed glass cabinet) and no noise whatsoever.

However, my PS3 sounds and feels like it's really working hard on any DvD movie playback.

Why isn't the PS3 as efficient at DvD playback as the Sony dedicated BR Player????

Make sure if when u r watchin a movie or gaming (especially movie) to hav space for it 4 air. I was watchin a movie once and i had it in a cabinet with door closed and the fan was louder than the movie, but if u keep it cool, the fan is quieter than a mouse

Will do, thanks!

resistance 2 has great online splitscreen. munkeypoo45
So you can play split screen locally with a friend (in the same room on a second controller) in an online game?
