For all of you talking about precedent... this doesn't create precedent. No judge gave a verdict on this. Microsoft settled out of court because it cost them less than to actually go to court. Basically the woman annoyed the hell out of them until they gave her money to go away.
I'm really looking forward to FF15, but I hope that this isn't an indication of how all big fights will go down. This has a whole lot of quick time events that seem really arbitrary. The only game in recent memory that pulled these off well was Shadow of Mordor, and I think that's because it had a cohesive and really interactive system as opposed to 'Push B because B is awesome and it will save you'.
Judging by the comments it would seem having to pay full price for a game, no matter how solid it is, is evil. Hundreds of extremely skilled and talented developers spent millions of man hours on this. So seriously, if you have the attitude that paying for high quality entertainment is wrong, then your priorities are way off and you probably shouldn't be sitting on your ass playing games to begin with.
Regarding this comment about the in-match leveling system: "In the competitive multiplayer, however, this system can unfairly stack the odds against players who actually need the most help."
I think that's the purpose, and has been since Warcraft 3 introduced the concept. If you think of a match as two teams balancing on either side of a scale, then the one that begins to out-level the other can tip the scale easier, thus creating faster matches as opposed to drawn out slog fests.
@Utnayan: "Except when it has been standard in every game up until now"
Hahahaha.
"How about we tell the truth in this industry for once. Is that hard to do?"
Businesses want to make money!
The shocking truth at 11 will blow your fking minds!
Besides spouting nonsense, is there any actual evidence you want to provide as to why this is some conspiracy to pull one over on consumers? Also, who do you work for? I want to know why you seem to believe you're part of the games industry.
@BboyStatix: Depending on how they handle it, but in my experience if you continue to only give then people will expect that they can continue to take. The reason The Witcher 3 didn't break sales records is because a huge percentage of the people that played it pirated it. CDPR will unfortunately need to design a game around a server based system to ensure people actually purchase content at some point.
