Hey man,

Your post is a bit unclear...did you install the HD and then install Windows? If that's the case, then it doesn't seem likely it's a hardware mismatch...

I've had instances in the past of blue screens (with that error, even), that were related to bad/unhappy RAM. It does happen sometimes that the RAM just doesn't agree with the motherboard, too, in which case I'd return the RAM if you can and buy a brand that's recommended in your motherboard manual.

If you think it's a bad stick, and you've got more than one stick in the machine, I'd try swapping them out and just run the system with one stick and see if it makes a difference.

Good luck!

I'm partial to agreeing with you guys. There is the fear that all those expensive, shiny things thrown together won't end up being anything but an overpriced paperweight...

But, as a die-hard PC enthusiast, it's actually part of the fun. Yeah, sometimes hardware goes bad, sometimes finding the configuration of various manufacturers can be damn frustrating. But in the end, when the thing is built and runs 10X better than a console, it's damn satisfying.

Crysis on an 8800GTX SLI system makes it totally worth it. :)

I've been building computers since I was little. It's pretty much a hobby for me, more than anything else. But I enjoy pushing the limits of the hardware, seeing how well new products run. And yeah, to see how awesome I can make Crysis look... :D

My computer's set for awhile, though. It won't need upgrading for another year or two, I imagine.

Just finished Crysis recently, and was pretty much wowed for the entire last 1/4 of the game or so.

There were some moments in HL2 Episode Two too, like at the very beginning where there's the portal shockwave and then the train bridge collapses. Just enjoyed that, for some reason...

Oh yeah, speaking of Portal...that whole game, too.

I agree! That's a nifty idea, I'd def. use something like that. Especially if it lets you know people have commented on blog posts and such, since there's no other method of knowing that right now.

I've only got 5 games right now...

  • Wii Sports
  • Wii Play
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • Boom Blox
  • Okami

Only got my Wii a couple months ago, though. So far I'm lovin' it!! I'll be looking to this thread for suggestions for more games, I'm sure.

Oh, and Mario Galaxy is my favourite so far.

I'm a Vista user, and I gotta say I'm not unhappy with it. I'm a PC Gamer, too, and everything runs just fine. I upgraded mostly out of curiosity than anything else, and I haven't really missed Windows XP.

The only complaint I have is that manufacturers of peripherals have done a bad job of keeping up with Vista, and often if something's not working right, it seems to be driver related. Creative Labs is a good example of that.

Or, in some cases, there is simply NO driver available for Vista. Had to replace my scanner and printer with a new scanner/printer combo, because my "old" scanner had no drivers for it. Printer did, and worked fine, but not the scanner. So I bit the bullet and mashed the two together and got rid of the old stuff.

Have you tried uninstalling your NVidia Graphics driver and reinstalling the newest version?

How would you even cheat on a DS? Is there something out there I'm unaware of that lets you do that?

As for snaking, it's tough. Took me forever just to learn how to boost on a regular basis, nevermind ALL the time... Mario Kart on the DS is the first of the series I've ever played. I dig it!

he has both diamond and pearl, pokemon ranger, and the new pokemon dungeon. so its down to professor layton and advance wars (which one?)evil_luigi

I dunno that I'd recommend Professor Layton for a 10 year-old. Does he really like puzzles and brain-teasers? And is he pretty smart? Heck, I'm 29 and I had trouble with that game at times...and it's not exactly fast-paced either, though the story's pretty good.

Just my two cents!
