If you're looking for "older" rpg's its hard to beat the Baldurs Gate series (especially BG2 and its expansion) as well as the Icewind Dale series. Personally I loved the Icewind Dale series. That said none of them are action types like Diablo or Diablo 2. Try out Sacred if you want a more Diablo type or Dungeon Siege series.
