I graduated from perhaps the most liberal university in the country and have gone out of my way to recognize the obvious inequalities in race, ethnicity, sex, and class that this country faces.
That said, if you and her want to be complete fools and single out misogyny in GTA as a real problem to the merit of the game, go ahead, but I won't respect your opinion, because it is based on intentional misunderstanding and politicization, and it makes me sick.
Misogyny is a problem in real life. But it is no greater problem in GTA V than anything else is, and you two should recognize that and stop being ridiculous.
Don't put words it my mouth. I never said anything about not taking the review as valid because she is a woman. You said that, and since you assumed that was what I meant, maybe that's seeping out of your conscious.
The review is stupid because it criticizes GTA for misogyny when the entire game is based on an amoral universe. If you attack misogyny, you have to attack everything else, and then she might as well have given the game a 5.
I have a lot more than unkind words for your assumption that my view makes me misogynistic. You're just continuing the lunacy of this review here, and go ahead.
I respect people, regardless of sex and race, but I know better than to look for sense and fairness and the Grand Theft Auto universe... you and the reviewer, on the other hand, are approaching the game with moral idiocy.
Kidding... but I didn't see them. I don't know or care what offensive things people said. I am going to think the review is ridiculous one way or the other.
Giving GTA V a 9 out of 10 means that GTA IV, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Drake 2 are all better games.
That is false. That is the problem here.
The woman made good points and wrote thoughtfully. But her criticism was not enough to take 1, even .5 points off of the game.
The game is a 10/10 regardless of whether or not one takes issue with its morality. I've never had more fun playing a video game, besides maybe Age of Empires 2, and the online mode isn't even up yet for GTA V.
The review score is the biggest problem. The second biggest problem is accusing GTA of being misogynistic. If the morality of the GTA universe is going to be taken seriously, it clearly has bigger problems than misogyny.
