TBH I used to be one of those who advocated for ultra realistic graphics and stuff. But the switch humbled me. I had way, way more fun with the switch games, with its coloful but simplistic graphics, than I had with anything running on Unreal Engine with RT, nanite etc.
I think the switch, and nintendo first party games are a lesson to the whole industry. Instead of burying millions of dolars in ultra realistic graphics, focusing more on gameplay and in making the game more fun to play is the way to go.
The switch made my high end PC gaming rig obsolete, not in terms of hardware, but in terms of delivering me the best games this generation.
(yeah there is emulation and good game on pc etc, I know, I'm just saying I throughly enjoyed the switch this generation, way more than my xbox or pc).
Games that don't respect the player don't get my money.
I mean, I spend money on microtransactions that I see as fair. Skins? Ok, cosmetics? ok.
Upgrades, p2w stuff, loot boxes, I pass, I actually pass the entire game.
Diablo Immortal was a imediate skip for me once I hit the first p2w part, for example. On the other hand, I spent money on several cosmetics in Team Fortress 2 over the years. I don't ever buy loot boxes. If I want an Item, I go to the market and I pay the item cost, what ever it is, but I will not buy keys or crates.
Same on CSGO, Rocket League, etc.
On fortnite I brought a couple battle passes, where I liked the skins and the season map/weapons. But I hate how Epic hide older skins from users, and some time they show up as limited sales pressuring the player into buying them. Why not let us go to the store, browse the hundreds of skins they sell, and let us buy what we want.
Hell, I miss the old days where we paid for EXPANSION PACKS and that was it.
Thank god we still have indie games to save us from the corporate greed.
1080p for portable is not really necessary, look at the steam deck. It would just increase costs and lower performance. Same for 4k on TVs. If it`s just the output, to play videos or something like that, ok, now, render games at 4k or even 1440p is not a good idea on a mobile chipset. UNLESS they can somehow stuff DLSS into this console, specially DLSS3. DLSS will be there for sure, but I doubt DLSS3 will make the cut, would probable require too much die area, and power.
@r3gn4r: We just want to play a game, not change the fucking world. It`s not my problem what goes on on blizzard, let those involved solve it, stop trying to make it our problem.
Basically everything he said is "bad" or "dated" is what makes the game great....
This review is basically worthless, and I should recommend people interested in the game to try it before coming to a conclusion about it. I'm not much of a fan of diablo 2, but I'm really enjoying this remaster.
I don't know why are people in the comments criticizing the bloober team. They had several interesting horror games released the last few years.
To name a few, Layers of Fear, Observer, The Medium, others like Blair Witch and Layers of Fear 2 might not be as good, but the first three were great.
People who didn't like The medium clearly played it in day time listening to music and drinking bear. The game has a great atmosphere, and nice puzzles, I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact It made me remember playing Alone in The Dark (the 1993 one) and Silent Hill 2.
If they are working on a Silent Hill game, this would be great news, and exactly what I wanted when I finished The Medium.
But again, they should focus more on the horror side of things, which is their strenght.
