I like KISS, not as much as I used to, but I still do. Saw them in concert when I was 15, back during the 2000 Farewell tour. Great show, but I still think that NIN has the best live show.

i dont remember who the other team was but it was a divisional playoff game (i think) in o.t. on the coin toss jerome bettis of the pittsburg steelers called heads during the toss and somehow the ref says ..."he calls tails !" how the heck do you screw that up ?nolzwin

It was a regular season game between the Steelers and the Lions. Pittsburgh was 7-5 at the time and was in the hunt for a wild card spot that year. And the game started a downward spiral for them and they finished theseason at 7-9. I watched that game live on tv.

As much as I love my Razorbacks, it will be nearly impossible for any SEC team to survive this years conference schedule. But we do have the best running backs in the country. D-mac, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis- aka the H2.

[QUOTE="kidkit"]Oh yeah... Basically there are 2 new HD Sound Formats that requier HDMI Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD - To me, both of these formats are too much of a luxury - Recievers that support these formats start at a Very high cost... cspiffo

Actually the price of these receivers has come down quite drastically. The Onkyo 605 supports true HDMI decoding so you can have 7.1 Dolby True HD and DTS-HD for $470 on sale at circuit city. That receiver doesn't come with speakers though so it doesn't quite fit the OP's budget.

First you can get that receiver on Amazon for $400 w/ free shipping every so often, and as of now it is not necessary, because there is not one single player that sends Dolby TrueHD nor DTS-HD bitstream. All players that have them decode them internally a send it via LPCM over HDMI (done w/ 1.1 spec) or via 5.1/7.1 analog. But in the future we will see players that send send the bitstream.

I can't believe how fast HD DVD players have come down in price after only 15 months. Value Electronics has the HD-A2 w/ a free HDMI cable, and free shippingfor only $199. And Toshiba has extended its 5 free movie offer. :shock:

Even if HD DVD loses the format war, you can thank them for driving down the prices for both formats faster than expected. Competition is a good thing. Now hopefully this will make the prices of Blu-ray standalones to come down more too. I hope that the Panasonic player comes down a couple hundredfarther so I can nab one by Christmas.

It just depends on what controller thatYOU like better. That's it. Personally I would rather play football on 360, because it felt weird not having rumble while playing NCAA 08 on my brother's PS3. But that's just me.

The 360 add-on comes with the USB 2.0 cable, AC adapter, a movie (Mine came with King Kong), and the media remote.

You will need to buy either the VGA of HDMI cable to get 1080p and to upscale DVD's. The component cable will output HD DVD titles in 720p, 1080i, or 1080p (if your TV will accept 1080p via component VERY FEW CAN), but Component will not upscale DVD's to anything above 480p.

I would wait a bit and save some money. $250 will not get you quality.

[QUOTE="BadAndy642"]

I personally prefer DTS, because it sounds clearer and richer to my ears especially when watching HD DVD's with my 360 add-on. Full bitrate DD is at 640 kbpswhile DTS is 1.5mbps.

I still can't wait to buy my Panasonic BD player. It does both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, but alas no DTS-HD MA.

Does that Blu-ray player have 5.1 analog out for that internal decoding, or does it do uncompressed PCM over HDMI to a compatible HDMI receiver? An Onkyo 605 receiver for $399 on sale online can decode all that stuff through HDMI, that way you don't have to rely on the player. Also, when you get Dolby Digital Plus, I think that's 4.5mbps, and since on HD-DVD the Dolby Digital is pulled out of the core of that, it can be better quality than the normal DVD.

It will do uncompressed PCM over HDMI, but it also has internal decoding with 7.1 analog out. Which is good for me since I have a Onkyo 504. The Panny also has DVD-Audio playback, but no SACD (Which is all right since I have7 DVD-A titles and only 1 SACD title)
