it's not like they're sitting at their desks over in japan thinking "hey, let's NOT sell as many Wiis as we can. instead, let's only put out half that many so that no one can buy our product and we don't make as much money." they'll meet demand whenever people stop wanting them. the only way you can have a date to that is if you go around door-to-door to every person on the planet and ask if they want a wii or not. then find out the exact production rate for Wiis, and figure out how long it'll take to satisfy all those people.Xelioth1to tell you the truth I do think that thats what they are doing. I mean seriously think about it, if they keep supply at a steady flow they will always sell out and people will generate hype about it because technically its a "hott" item. In contrst if they put out too much everyone who wants one will be satisfued and that'll be the end of it, sales will just fall down from there and they'll be just over flowing and then retailler will hjave to start selling them for cheap because there will be an abundance and N will loose because of that. Ofcourse it has adverse effects to the market like scalprer but all in all the pros out weight the cons.

[QUOTE="santiagochile"]None. The Wii is not capable. It only has a 732 mhz processor, while the original XBOX had a 729 mhz processor. Wait until the next Nintendo console. ThePlothole
The original Xbox ran on a Celeron, which is a crappy processor. The Wii runs a Power PC, which is considered to be a much better architecture. So the difference, at least in theory, is considerable. In any case, that's the CPU. What's more important here is GPU, and the Wii and Xbox vary quite a bit here (there are pros and cons to each, though again in theory the Wii's GPU is slightly better). And then there's the amount of RAM available...
Of course I'm not saying that the Wii could pull off 360 graphics... it can't. Though it could potentially pull off things that the orginal Xbox at least was incapable of.
Wait, Wasn't the Xbox's CPu a PIII With only have the Cache?and it only had half the fill rate which was an extreme bottleneck...IMO, the Wii is atleast 1.5-2 X's stronger than the Xbox..Nintendo Could have easily made a a console that could compete pretty well with the current HD consoles but it would not have gone With their "Chisai (Jp for Small) and Quiet" design of the wii. In addition ot that they knew that 3 consoles competing for best graphics would no doubt end with them last (again). Furthermore, Nintendo didn't have a big budget going into this gen to finance research and developement for a high powered console, sony spent Billions just researching technology for the PS3 but as we all know now, powrr isn't everything (although its a good assurance for the longevity of the console...Hopefully next gen the Wii will be able to keep up w/ the rest.
