@friskyd Yeah in Australia we already are made to pay $90 to $130 for a new release game while the US and UK pay much less. Don't be fooled, the games inducstry is now bigger than the film industry and while some companies struggle there is plenty of money going into it. These businesses aren't charities nor do I expect them to be. As a consumer I want to know the total cost going in instead they seek to attact buyers with a lower price then deliver the full game over time with extra add ons.
I am not angry at all but I don't appreciate this marketing ploy. As for your hoplites, there is always a counter, bring up the archers! :D
@friskyd You claim you don't 'see', well you need to see and claiming you status as a fan from the start is irrelevant. The point you fail to see is that this indicates what is to come. Again we get an unfinished or incomplete game and then they drip feed us units and upgrades to keep us spending. You want to claim your old-school kudos? Well I miss the days when you bought the game and played it to death without dlc and without steam, anywhere anytime; that was excellent. And look if it's expensive to make which I imagine it is then set a realistic up front cost. This is a trick to lure customers in with 'micro-transactions'. Now do you see? Or must I charge your left flank before you realise you have been out thought? :P
Yeah this culture pack dlc is rubbish, I love Total War but they have been treating fans with increasing contempt. It's a business model and one that may come back to bite.
To clear this up: I traded the original game to buy the new one! The new game found my old save file and gave me stuff and rolled over my character and main pawn SEAMLESSLY (that's a feat many games fail to achieve). So now I have an enhanced game with excellent new bits for a fraction of the price (AU$25) Awesome!
