I used to be a PC gamer, but I gave it up as I was wasting too much of my time playing games/ being unproductive. Now I play about 3 hours of videogames a week on my Xbox 360, and no longer miss out.

This reminds of that time a total stranger - who has a history of being a lying conniving jackwagon - convinced me to give him all my personal and financial details and then proceeded to leave them where a criminal organisation could easily find them. He then lied, obfuscated and generally bent the truth, before taking a week to let me know that this criminal organisation might've got all my details. But then he bought me flowers, chocolates, and said he was really, really, really sorry. Now I trust him implicitly, and am about to give him all my new personal and financial details.

I was playing Skies of Arcadia just the other day on my beloved Dreamcast. It's over 10 years old and defunct and it still has better graphics than the Wii. That just hows how far ahead of its time it was. Or maybe how unbelievably cack the Wii is. Or maybe it's a bit of both.

Arkady_Husky, you are so right! GT5P, WipeoutHD, MGS4, Resistance 2 - all awful looking games running at sub-720p. Well done you! Well, I'm not sure about the others, but MGS 4 does indeed render below 720p. It renders at 1,024*768 which is the resolution I've been playing my PC games at for 10 years. That's a full 135,168 pixels shy of 720p. A cursory intertube search reveals that Wipeout HD has a maximum resolution of 1080p, but changes horizontal resolution, sometimes as low as 1,440 on a frame-by-frame basis. Like I said, I'm not sure about the others, but given that the GPU in the PS3 is several generations old and that Sony had been known to tell porkies, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a sleight of hand happening somewhere with most - if not all - of them.

Oh, and one last thing. Here in the UK, there's a mobile phone company called Carphone Warehouse. They've got a new advert running (I've only seen the TV one) where if you buy one of their Sony Ericsson mobile phones and subscribe to one of their contracts, they give you a free PS3. They've done this (giving videogame consoles away with phones) before. With the Sega Dreamcast whilst it was in its death spiral. QED.

Well, I'll be! The system with the objectively more powerful Graphics Processing Unit has better graphics. Whod've thunk it? Does anyone remember before the PS3 was released, when people were speculating about it being able to display on two displays, both at 1080p? And yet, here we are in cold reality, where in order to have a game running at an acceptable framerate, it has to render sub-720p (with a handful of exceptions). Still, the PS3 served its primary function; Sony won its video format war.
