so I can see people complaining about the graphics just like they did on RCTW...

anyway, Frontier making a real "RCT" game >>>> Atari's RCTW...

@XxParasite: although they might not be "blink-random" encounters, the ambushes are basically obligatory-battles and unlike random encounters, you cannot run away from those.

apart from the loading (at least back in the days), you could always try to run away from random battles, if you weren't in the mood and all.

but yeah, for newer 3D environmental RPGs, seeing the enemies upfront or at least trying to dodge them is basically mandatory, blinking screen BAM random fight - that doesn't work well with today's games

@Bsgifford05: unless it's FFVIII, which any enemy scales to your level, that'd not be possible….

I have used -- pardon the irony -- rechargeable Sony AA batteries since 2005, I had 4 pairs that lasted a good 6 years for my X360s, and the original plug-n-charge kit lasted about a year back then.

I have been using (new pairs of course) them since the X1 launch date, and they still hold up for over a week depending on the play time -- even more if stored in proper conditions.

I'd be super interested in this, but since this "rumble pak" is ginormous, I don't think it would feel comfortable to play with it…

@Bahamut50: I know I know, I'd love battles sped up too, but I don't mind random encounters in jRPGs. thing is, in this case, the chocobos early game and/or items that make the skippable are even more pointless than my rant… which are also core in these games' mechanics. if they are modding the game in such way to make those improvements and invalidating items, why not remake them altogether instead of simply porting…!?

but sure thing, I agree with you in the sane portion of my mind. the other part is too conservative regarding good old classics. (you see, I could emulate, I could play on steam -- and I do have them on Steam too -- but I rather play the original black CDs I still have on the PS3 and have that nostalgia fun regardless)

@king_quaps: I know, but basically every newcomer (and even some friends of mine who were diehard FF/jRPGs fan back in the days) will opt to avoid random battles… they just can't stand it, and sometimes it was actually annoying, but getting to legitimately skip those encounters was truly an achievement or effort, or simply renting a chocobo thing-y.

they just make gamers lazier and lazier each year (remember when NES didn't have save states? and even FF that had, you actually had to find a save point.. )

but yeah I know times changed, and new games have different mechanics and all that, but since it's a re-release of an old/classic game, they should maintain the original mechanics as they were (of course graphical enhancements is always welcomed)

@crushbrain: I haven't tried myself, but from people who tested it, they were impressed and I believe it's totally different than putting a pair of lenses in front of a cellphone screen (which there are products already to make your own VR using your phone attached), think of the lag, field of view and resolution/fps on each eye -- I think OR is somewhat much better than a regular VR gimmick -- BUT AGAIN, I haven't tried it myself...

and that doesn't change the fact it's expensive too, regardless.
